Present at Que Phong Ethnic Minority Secondary School, witnessed the busy atmosphere of teachers and students cleaning classrooms, preparing for the upcoming new school year.

Lang Thi Truc Xuyen and Luong Kim Ngan, 9th grade students who just returned to school after summer vacation, said:

"I feel so excited and the summer vacation time flies by so fast and I finally get to go to school to see my friends. I feel like my luggage is ready for the new school year.

The whole room was cleaned, things were folded, the vegetable garden and flower garden were hoeing to prepare for the new school year. I felt very happy to see my friends again after 3 months of summer.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh, Head of Education at Que Phong Ethnic Minority Secondary School, said: Que Phong is a border district with difficult and complicated terrain. Of the 420 students in the 2024-2025 school year, most are from remote areas, with their homes 30-50km from school.

Therefore, being present at school early to prepare is very necessary: "The school has fully prepared the rooms, the dining area has prepared the dining table, planned the daily menu, prepared to teach life skills to students, equipped with dormitory rules, rooms, rice grading, dining room rules and commitments for students to sign and implement better."

Mr. Tu Duc Long, Vice Principal of Que Phong Ethnic Minority Secondary School, said: Since the beginning of August, the school has started to renovate classrooms and renovate dormitories to welcome students to school. Although there are still difficulties in accommodation for students, but with the spirit of "school is home, teachers are like kind mothers", the school is trying its best to welcome students to school to prepare for the new school year in the best way:

"The school creates the best conditions to ensure that the children have enough food and accommodation. The number of rooms for the children is currently lacking, so the school has arranged to add more beds and living areas to ensure the children have enough food, accommodation and study" - Teacher Tu Duc Long said.

The biggest difficulty for mountainous schools in Nghe An when entering the new school year is the shortage of teachers. While Que Phong district lacks school management staff, Ky Son district lacks nearly 200 teachers, mainly foreign language and information technology teachers. Although there are quotas, recruitment is difficult.

Mr. Lu Thanh Hoa, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Que Phong district, said that to carry out the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year, starting from August 1, teachers have returned home, schools are carrying out tasks of building pedagogical landscapes, arranging teachers to teach in classes, and building school year plans. One difficulty when entering the new school year is the lack of management teams in primary schools due to the lack of appointment sources.

In recent years, Nghe An province has paid special attention to investing in physical infrastructure for education, especially in remote areas. Although there are still certain difficulties in learning conditions, with the attention of all levels and sectors, and the dedication of the teaching staff, the steps to school of students in the mountainous areas of Nghe An are less arduous.
