Will the iPhone 17 Air lack appeal because of the camera?

However, a recent survey shows that the iPhone 17 Air may face many challenges in attracting users.

The survey conducted by SellCell with more than 3,500 iPhone users focused on the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e series. The survey results showed that only 7.3% of users were interested in the iPhone 16e, while the remaining 92% did not choose this phone model. Accordingly, there are 3 main reasons given:

• Missing rear camera: 52.6% of users are unhappy with the lack of a wide-angle or telephoto camera.
• Prefer high-end devices: 34% of users prefer higher-end iPhone models because they want to experience the best that Apple has to offer, regardless of price.
• Price: 91.6% of users are not satisfied with the price of iPhone 16e.

This suggests that the camera issue could impact consumer interest in iPhones, particularly the upcoming iPhone 17 Air. Rumors and leaked models suggest that the Air will only have a single 48MP camera, similar to the iPhone 16e.

The camera is one of the top factors when choosing an iPhone, especially high-end models. SellCell's survey also found that users are willing to pay more for additional features such as Dynamic Island, MagSafe charging, multiple rear cameras and brighter screens.

A big question is whether the iPhone 17 Air will be considered a premium phone by consumers. While it will have MagSafe charging and the possibility of an A19 chip, it’s unclear whether these factors will be enough to convince users to overlook the cutbacks in photography capabilities.

Apple certainly wants the iPhone 17 Air to be a success, but ultimately, it won't be too concerned if users opt for the iPhone 17 Pro models, as the survey results show.
