Italy wins women's volleyball world championship after dramatic final

(Dan Tri) - Defeating the Turkish women's team with a close score of 3-2 in the final match, the Italian women's volleyball team won the 2025 world championship.

The final match of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship took place on the evening of September 7 at Hua Mak Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). The world's number one women's team, Italy, faced the world's number four team, Turkey.

Like the semi-final match against Brazil that took place a day earlier, the Italian women's volleyball team played with courage and resilience.

In the first set, the Italian women's team won by a narrow margin of 25-23, temporarily leading 1-0. However, in the second set, the Turkish women's team played much better. The world's No. 4 team quickly won this set with a score of 25-13, thereby leveling the score at 1-1.

In the third set, the Italian women's team returned. This was also the best set of the final match. In this set, the Italian women's volleyball team won by a close score of 26-24. Italy temporarily led their opponents 2-1.

But the Turkish women's team did not give up easily. In the fourth quarter, Türkiye won 25-19, tying the score 2-2 after four quarters.

This score forced both sides to decide the winner in the 5th set, the deciding set. In this set, the Italian women's volleyball team once again showed their mettle as the world's number one team. Italy won the 5th set with a score of 15-8.

In the end, Italy beat Türkiye 3-2 (25-23, 13-25, 26-24, 19-25 and 15-8). Italy won the championship.

Meanwhile, in the third-place match that took place the same afternoon, the Brazilian women's volleyball team won 3-2 against the Japanese women's team.
