Overcoming landslides and floods in the Central provinces: Temporarily opening the West branch of Ho Chi Minh road

On October 17, Mr. Truong Thanh Tuan, Head of the A Ngo Road Management Department (Quang Tri province) said that 18 landslide locations on the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Highway, passing through Ta Rut commune, had been urgently cleared of rocks and soil, temporarily opening the traffic route.

Currently, the unit is mobilizing maximum machinery, equipment and human resources to continue handling the remaining landslides, while reinforcing locations at risk of landslides, and soon bringing the road back to stable and safe operation.

On the same day, Mr. Dang Van Hoa, Chief of Office of Hue City Civil Defense Command, said that the locality has reserved nearly 100 tons of food and essential foodstuffs to proactively respond to landslides, flooding and prolonged isolation during heavy rains forecast from October 20 to the end of October.

On October 17, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province Tran Bao Ha signed a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency on a number of roads under the management of the Department of Construction, due to the impact of storms No. 5, 6, 10 and the heavy rains that lasted from August 23 to September 30. The Provincial People's Committee requested relevant agencies and units to urgently repair and restore the original state of the road surface structure; reinforce the slope to ensure long-term stability, and at the same time study solutions to solidify the works, proactively detect and promptly handle arising situations, ensuring smooth traffic safety.
