High tides flooded shops along Tam Giang lagoon

Due to the impact of storm No. 12, on the afternoon of October 21, high tides caused many areas along Tam Giang lagoon (through Dan Dien commune, Hue city) to be flooded from 0.5 to 0.8 meters deep. Some shops of businesses along the lagoon were flooded, causing damage.

Border Guard calls on ships to anchor to avoid storms

Mr. Pham Cong Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Dien commune, said that the government has sent forces to check vulnerable points, instructed people to keep their properties high, and closely monitored the storm's developments to respond promptly.

On the same day, Mr. Pham Duc Tien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, inspected the response work for storm No. 12 in Vinh Loc and Phu Loc communes - areas forecast to be directly affected when the storm makes landfall.

In Vinh Loc commune, the authorities have deployed response plans, fully mobilizing means, materials, and on-site forces. The locality has reserved 3.5 tons of rice, 1,140 boxes of instant noodles, 3,600 liters of gasoline, and 1,600 liters of drinking water; mobilized people to stockpile food and provisions to ensure 7 days of protection against prolonged rain and floods; the medical station has fully prepared medicines, medical staff, and emergency rooms.

Phu Loc Commune has also prepared a plan to evacuate 403 households with 1,497 people to a safe place.

Mr. Pham Duc Tien directed local authorities to grasp the local situation to evacuate people living along the coast to higher places, avoiding coastal erosion and rising water levels during heavy rains; absolutely not letting people stay in dangerous places when storms make landfall.
