Faced with the serious landslide on National Highway 15C at Km88+750 in Pu Nhi commune (Muong Lat), causing traffic disruption, the Department of Transport (GT-VT) urged road management units to mobilize vehicles to temporarily handle the situation and ensure smooth traffic here.

Due to the impact of storm No. 2, the floods in July and August 2024 and storm No. 3, the section Km88+750 - Km88+810 of National Highway 15C collapsed completely, with a depth of about 2.5m - 3m and a length of about 60m. On the right side of the route, the house of a resident has completely collapsed; on the left side of the positive slope is the headquarters of Pu Nhi Border Guard Station, many large cracks have appeared on the yard, hall...
In addition, the section from Km88+810 - Km88+830 with a length of about 20m, the road surface has cracks with the risk of landslides. On the route, many large cracks have appeared on both the right and left sides of the route; the extent of the landslide cannot be determined accurately due to complex terrain and geological conditions.
On September 8, the Department of Transport announced traffic diversion through the location of negative slope landslide and road surface subsidence on National Highway 15C.

To ensure traffic safety, on the afternoon of September 9, the Department of Transport coordinated with the Vietnam Road Administration and Thanh Hoa Road Management Joint Stock Company II to mobilize human resources and equipment to dig and handle the entire road surface that had sunk to an average depth of 2 meters; to restore the sunken road surface and compact it; to dig and replace the soil and restore the road surface structure, ensuring traffic flow.
Deputy Director of the Department of Transport Pham Van Tuan said: The Department has reported to the Ministry of Transport and the Provincial People's Committee about the subsidence situation of this road and proposed a temporary solution to reopen the road as soon as possible in accordance with the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
In the immediate future, to ensure traffic, the Department reports to the Vietnam Road Administration for permission to implement a temporary solution on this route and continue to monitor and ensure traffic here.
Despite the difficult weather, the road management unit actively handled the landslide site.
If the weather conditions are favorable, the temporary treatment of the damaged road at Km88+750 in Pu Nhi commune will be completed before September 15, creating conditions for the entire National Highway 15C to be opened to traffic. In the long term, this is a slide that needs a solid solution, survey, design and a viaduct plan.
