Nghia Hung port has fixed the problem and ships can pass through normally.

Previously, on August 9, Inland Waterway Maintenance Management Joint Stock Company No. 10 - the management unit of Nghia Hung ship lock (the canal connecting Day River with Ninh Co River) said that at about 11:30 a.m. the same day, during operation, the winch cable pulling the right wing of the ship lock door broke.

At this time, there are two watercraft in the lock chamber and cannot move out.

Immediately after discovering the incident, the canal management unit temporarily stopped the operation of the lock to fix the oil leak of the water balance valve gearbox at the head of the Day River.

At the same time, develop a plan to fix the problem; recommend vehicle owners traveling on the route to adjust their routes while the problem is fixed.

During the troubleshooting period, all watercraft traveling through Nghia Hung canal will be temporarily suspended. Captains and drivers will proactively study the channel conditions and choose the appropriate direction to ensure safety.

Nghia Hung ship lock project officially operated from July 2023, with a lock length of 279m; lock chamber length of 179m; effective length of 130m; width of 17m. The bottom elevation of the lock is -7m and the top elevation of the lock is +3.5m (National elevation system).

The project has a reinforced concrete structure, U-shaped vertical wall (RC) with a ship lock anchoring system including a fixed anchoring system with three operating water levels, including 12 anchor clusters on both sides, each side including 6 anchor clusters.

The waiting area has 2 areas, including: The dock end on the Ninh Co River side (7 anchors, 3 pedestrian bridges); The dock end on the Day River side (7 anchors, 3 pedestrian bridges). The dock is designed for vessels with a tonnage of up to 3,000 DWT.
