Approved project to repair 5km of road to help shorten the distance between Da Lat - Gia Nghia

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has approved a project to repair a 5km shortcut connecting National Highway 28 with Provincial Road 725, helping to shorten the distance from Da Lat to Gia Nghia by about 20km.

The 5km shortcut connecting National Highway 28 with Provincial Road 725 has its starting point at Km128+330 of National Highway 28.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has just approved the economic and technical report on investment in construction of the repair project of the connecting road from National Highway 28 (Km128+330) to Provincial Road 725 (Km63+910), Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune.

According to the decision, the project has a total length of nearly 5km. Of which, the section from Km0+00 to Km2+548.39 will be upgraded and renovated synchronously with items of foundation, road surface, drainage system and traffic safety. The section from Km2+548.39 to Km4+952.55 will basically keep the same structure, only repaired and expanded at the intersection with Provincial Road 725.

The 5km section that is about to be invested is a rural traffic axis with nearly 2.5km of dirt road.

The route is designed according to the standards of rural roads of class B, with a cement concrete road surface of 3.5m wide and a total width of 6m. The design speed is 20km/h and the axle load is 2.5 tons. The drainage system will be supplemented with many round culverts, plate culverts and longitudinal concrete ditches to ensure safe traffic.

The total investment of the project is 12 billion VND from the State budget, of which construction costs account for more than 10.5 billion VND. The project implementation period is expected from 2025 to 2026.

The investor is Lam Dong Department of Construction, the representative implementing unit is Dak Nong Construction Maintenance Project Management Board and Construction Consulting. The consulting unit for survey and document preparation is Van Tuong Construction Consulting Company Limited.

Currently, the distance from Da Lat to Gia Nghia (the old center of Dak Nong province before the administrative unit arrangement) is about 180km long. The shortest and most convenient route from Gia Nghia is from National Highway 28 and then through Provincial Road 725. Travel time along this route is about 3.5 - 4 hours.

After being repaired, this shortcut will shorten the distance by about 20km, equivalent to about 30 minutes of travel from Da Lat to Gia Nghia.

The project aims to meet the needs of travel and transportation of agricultural products, strengthen the connection between National Highway 28 and Provincial Road 725, create momentum to promote the local economy and improve people's lives.

This shortcut is currently quite difficult to travel and poses potential traffic safety risks in many sections.

According to the investor, Lam Dong Department of Finance is currently balancing and allocating capital for the project. Once the capital is available, the unit will carry out procedures for selecting contractors and construction. The People's Committee of Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune pledged to mobilize people to donate land, crops and assets on the land to facilitate construction.
