The first customer in Hai Phong to benefit from the loan program for STEM students

On September 8, the Thanh Ha Social Policy Bank Transaction Office under the Hai Phong City Social Policy Bank Branch completed the application procedures for 5 customers to borrow capital for the STEM program for students, with a total amount of nearly 500 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Trieu Son in Co Cham village, Ha Bac commune received the first disbursement of 90 million VND to send his child to study at Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the 2025-2026 school year. This is the first customer in Hai Phong city to benefit from this program.

Previously, on August 28, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc signed Decision No. 29/2025/QD-TTg on credit for students, master's students, and researchers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other study expenses during their time studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at universities and vocational training institutions in the national education system. The policy not only provides financial support but also motivates students to pursue their passions and dreams.

The maximum loan amount for a student includes: The total tuition fee payable by the student (after deducting scholarships and other financial support from the school, if any) as confirmed by the school; living expenses and other study expenses, up to 5 million VND/person/month. The loan program has a preferential interest rate of 4.8%/year, which is the lowest policy credit loan interest rate currently.

The Social Policy Bank provides loans through households. The family representative is the person who takes out the loan and transacts with the Social Policy Bank. In case there is no member of the family aged 18 or older or the remaining member is unable to work or does not have full civil capacity as prescribed by law, the student directly takes out the loan at the Social Policy Bank.
