The Vietnam Maritime Administration has established four working groups to go to key areas to strengthen inspection and direct supervision of storm prevention and control for maritime activities in the provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai ; and inspect storm prevention and control on inland waterways in the Northeast, Northwest and Red River Delta.
This is information from an urgent online meeting on disaster prevention, control and search and rescue work due to the impact of storm No. 10 organized by the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration on September 27.
Director of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration Le Do Muoi emphasized the need to proactively prevent natural disasters and search and rescue and issued specific instructions.
For Vietnam Maritime Electronic Information Company Limited, it is necessary to direct the Coastal Information Stations to continuously and accurately broadcast storm warnings so that ships can take shelter in time. Maritime Port Authorities and Inland Waterway Port Authorities must prepare response plans and absolutely not grant permission to leave port when safety is not guaranteed.
The Director of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration requested units in the maritime and waterways industry to inspect and review the implementation of storm prevention and control; Maritime Port Authorities and affiliated units to arrange safe anchorage areas in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh for ships moving in the storm-affected areas to take shelter in time. The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center must maintain 24/7 duty, prepare forces and means, and be ready to deploy rescue when requested.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang requested the Vietnam Maritime Administration to direct the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center to urgently develop detailed response scenarios, associated with each level of natural disaster.
The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center is on duty 24/7, updating, collecting fully and promptly the situation of the tropical depression; Arranging specialized search and rescue (SAR) vessels in vulnerable areas, ready to mobilize vehicles to participate in search and rescue activities; at the same time, developing search and rescue scenarios, plans to coordinate the mobilization of vehicles and resources capable of search and rescue activities in areas of responsibility when requested.
