Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa increased by nearly 300%, why?

With many airlines opening direct flights, the number of Russian tourists to Khanh Hoa increased by nearly 300% compared to last year.

On September 23, Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that in the first 8 months of 2025, the province welcomed 279,000 Russian visitors, an increase of 294.9% over the same period in 2024.

The Department assessed this as a sign of strong recovery of the international tourist market, which used to be the "backbone" of Khanh Hoa tourism .

Currently, there are about 30 flights per week from Russian cities to Cam Ranh airport, including 26 charter flights operated by Ikar Airlines, IrAero Airlines, Vietjet Air, Azur Air, RedWings and 4 commercial flights by Aeroflot.

Notably, from September 5, Aeroflot opened a direct flight route from Irkutsk to Cam Ranh (2 flights/week, expected to increase to 3 flights/week from October 6), and is about to open more routes from Yekaterinburg (September 29), Novosibirsk (September 30) and Vladivostok (October 1).

Nordwind also announced plans to launch flights from Moscow, Ekaterinburg and many other cities in late September and early October.

Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association - explained that the sharp increase in the number of Russian tourists is due to the restoration of a series of direct flights. Russian tourists also come to Khanh Hoa because of reasonable costs, favorable weather and the attraction of cuisine, making Khanh Hoa an attractive choice.

Mr. Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said that this result comes from the open visa policy, the strong direction of the province and the activities of promotion, advertising, diversifying products and services and building a professional tourism business environment.

In addition, Russian tourists have the advantage of staying for a long time (15 - 30 days) and often return many times, belonging to the group of loyal customers. With the current growth rate, it is likely that in 2025 Khanh Hoa will surpass the record of 463,000 Russian visitors achieved in 2019.

International visitors expected to increase sharply

According to the Khanh Hoa Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, in the coming time, the province will step up tourism promotion in the markets of Korea, China and European countries.

These include many activities such as welcoming famtrip groups from China and Taiwan to conduct surveys, and organizing receptions for large groups of visitors by air, sea, and rail. The goal for 2025 is to welcome about 5.4 million international visitors to Khanh Hoa.

In the first 8 months of the year, the total number of tourists to Khanh Hoa reached more than 12.8 million, an increase of 15.6% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourism in the first 8 months reached 50,585 billion VND, an increase of 17.8% over the same period.
