Connecting heritage and technology, promoting MICE tourism in Vietnam

On the morning of September 26, in Hanoi, representatives of more than 800 domestic and foreign tourism enterprises attended the opening ceremony of the MICE Tourism Exhibition - Conference - MICE EXPO 2025 with the theme "Heritage and Technology in the new era."

The event is organized by the Vietnam MICE Tourism Association under the direction of the Vietnam Tourism Association.

As a type of tourism that combines the need for relaxation and work purposes, including four main elements: meetings, awards, conferences and exhibitions, MICE tourism is becoming more and more popular with organizations, businesses and associations whenever they need to organize a professional event in a comfortable and modern tourist space.

With its versatility, MICE helps participants focus on meeting, training, and discussion activities, while also relaxing, exploring , and exchanging local culture.

MICE tourism participants are not only tourists but also represent influential entities in the industry and society and contribute to creating valuable professional connections.

Therefore, MICE tourism not only benefits businesses and organizations but also enhances the value of destinations, attracts investment and promotes culture, cuisine and indigenous people to the world .

Chairman of the National Tourism Association Vu The Binh assessed that MICE is a rapidly developing type, playing an increasingly important role in the tourism industry. In particular, after the COVID-19 pandemic, MICE has had remarkable growth in most countries.

According to a report by the World Tourism Organization, by 2025, revenue from global MICE tourism is expected to reach about 1,400 billion USD, in which the Asia-Pacific region plays a key role and Vietnam is a potential destination for MICE tourism in the region.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, affirmed that MICE tourism is one of the most important and fastest growing tourism types in the industry. As a country with a rich and diverse heritage, Vietnam has great potential to develop MICE tourism.

MICE tourism is being promoted to become one of the pillars and growth drivers leading the entire tourism industry.

MICE EXPO 2025 is an opportunity to connect businesses and organizations in the industry to explore opportunities for cooperation, innovation and creativity. This is a playground where Vietnamese businesses will win together when they catch up with the right trends in domestic and international MICE tourism.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu hopes that as the number of MICE tourists increases, the forms become more and more diverse, requiring smart and sophisticated management, businesses will work together to solve the problem of MICE service quality, creatively and effectively connecting heritage and technology, thereby reaping success.

With the participation of 150 sellers and 1,500 buyers from more than 800 domestic and foreign enterprises, MICE EXPO 2025 creates a direct connection space for stakeholders to meet, trade, sign contracts, and discuss professional trends and future market development orientations.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh, Chairman of the Vietnam MICE Tourism Association, said this is the third time MICE EXPO has been held with the theme “Heritage and Technology in the New Era.” The Organizing Committee hopes that the event will highlight the close connection between Vietnam’s cultural identity and rich natural heritage resources with technological achievements that are shaping the future of the tourism industry.

Heritage is not only a spiritual value but also a foundation for unique creations in MICE experiences. Technology in the current context is the bridge that brings MICE tourism to develop further, more professionally and more sustainably.

MICE EXPO 2025 recorded many new points compared to 2024 such as: The area of commercial and connection space was doubled, the number of buyers increased by 50% and especially with the participation of more than 50 international Buyers and a series of tourism surveys (FamTrip) introducing the country and people of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the event, in addition to business networking activities between MICE enterprises, a MICE tourism seminar will take place on the afternoon of September 26 with the participation of experts in the tourism sector. The event also has a technology experience area (Tech Zone), displaying digital platforms applied in tourism in general and MICE in particular./.
