Opening of Hanoi city defense area drill

The 2024 Hanoi City Defense Area Exercise was organized on the largest scale and scope ever, taking place from September 29 to October 2. The Ministry of National Defense mobilized 16 units to participate in the exercise, participating in joint military and service combat practice with many means, using many types of modern weapons and equipment, applying science and information technology during the exercise.

Speaking at the opening of the exercise, General Phan Van Giang emphasized: Exercises in general and defense area exercises in particular are the highest form of comprehensive training aimed at improving leadership, command and operation capacity, combat coordination and advisory capabilities of all levels and forces, and the level, strength and combat readiness of the armed forces.

On that basis, continue to research, supplement and adjust combat plans to be closer to reality, and at the same time serve as a basis for research and development of military art suitable to combat objects, fighting methods, and organization of the army and armed forces.

“Through the exercise, localities can assess the quality of defense zone construction and the ability to protect their own areas and implement the 4-on-the-spot motto. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the participants of the drill held conferences: The National Defense Emergency Command deployed the plan to move the locality into a state of national defense emergency; moved the capital's armed forces from a state of high combat readiness to a state of full combat readiness, and moved the locality into a state of wartime.

The exercise will carry out the following contents: The City Party Executive Committee Conference will issue a resolution to lead the transition of the locality into a state of war; implement the general mobilization order; The City People's Council's thematic session will issue a resolution to transition the locality into a state of war; implement the general mobilization order.
