On October 1, the Congress discussed contributions to the Political Report of the Central Military Commission for the 2020-2025 term and carried out a number of other important contents as planned.

During the discussion session, many enthusiastic and responsible opinions focused on clarifying results, lessons learned and proposing solutions to improve the quality of military building, strengthen national defense, and firmly protect the Fatherland.

On behalf of the Presidium, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, said the Political Report comprehensively reflects the achievements and outstanding results of the 2020-2025 term, clearly points out limitations and causes, and draws valuable lessons.

The report also thoroughly grasps the new viewpoints and policies in the draft documents of the 14th Party Congress and the military's practices, serving as the basis for determining 9 goals, 17 key tasks and 16 action program contents for the next term.

Regarding the direction, goals, military and defense tasks and Party building of the Army for the 2025-2030 term, opinions agreed with the general direction, goals, tasks and main solutions stated in the Political Report and the contents of the action program to implement the Congress resolution, the country's development policies and the direction of General Secretary To Lam, Secretary of the Central Military Commission on "2 steadfastness, 2 promotion, 2 prevention" at the opening session. Along with that, delving into, analyzing and clarifying the characteristics of the situation affecting military and defense tasks and some specific tasks and solutions on each important content.

Regarding the direction and goals of building the Army, opinions are in high agreement with the goal: Building a strong, exemplary, and representative clean Party organization; building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern Army.

Regarding leadership in implementing military and defense tasks, opinions emphasized the following: Performing well the advisory function to the Party and State on military and defense, especially assessing and evaluating the complex and rapid developments of the world and regional situation associated with the formation of a multipolar world and the strategic calculations of major countries; proposing effective response policies and strategies, avoiding being passive and surprised.

Along with that, promoting the political and spiritual factors of cadres and soldiers and the cultural values ​​of Uncle Ho's soldiers, making cultural values ​​become an endogenous resource and driving force to build a politically strong Army, continuing to be the core and pioneering force in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, maintaining the Party's ideological position in the Army...

Promote the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in accordance with the characteristics of the military and national defense; build each officer and soldier into a "digital soldier"; deploy large-scale, strategic science and technology programs to serve the goal of modernizing the Army...

On the same day, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, on behalf of the Presidium, directed the nomination, candidacy, and voting to approve the list of delegates to the Military Party delegation to attend the 14th National Party Congress.

The Congress elected 48 delegates (including 45 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates). Along with 15 ex-officio delegates, the Party Committee of the Army has 63 delegates attending the 14th National Congress of the Party.
