Explore the mysteries of one of the world's largest caves

En Cave is located deep in the core area of Phong - Ke Bang National Park ( Quang Binh ). This is one of the largest caves in the world along with Son Doong Cave (Vietnam), Deer Cave (Malaysia). It is estimated that En Cave is more than 1.6km long, has a volume of about 6.7 million m3, some cave corridors are up to 200m wide, and the ceiling is about 145m high.

According to geologists, En Cave was formed by the Rao Thuong River flowing through the Hung Doong Valley, eroding the limestone layer. The erosion process is very slow, taking hundreds of thousands to millions of years.

Local people call this cave Swallow Cave because it is a shelter for hundreds of thousands of swallows during nesting season. Swallow Cave was chosen by the ancestors of the Arem people (Chut ethnic group) as a place to live because of their habit of living in caves and moving seasonally based on natural food sources. Swallows in the cave are also a source of food for many generations of Arem people. After being mobilized and supported by the State, the Arem people left the caves to build houses and settle in the villages.

To get to En Cave, visitors travel by car on the West branch of the Ho Chi Minh trail to the rest stop, then walk through the jungle, wade through streams, cross passes, climb slopes... The journey to reach En Cave takes about 1 day.

On the way to En Cave, visitors can stop by the village of the Bru - Van Kieu people to learn about the culture and life of the people here.

Like other limestone caves, En Cave contains stalactites and stalagmites with diverse and unique shapes.

According to the management and exploitation unit, the area near the entrance of En Cave can be seen some species of rock monkeys, gibbons and langurs. The high, wide ceiling area of the cave is chosen by swallows as the place to build their nests. Going deeper into the middle area of the cave, the light is limited and is where bats, crickets, scorpions and some species of insects live.

Regarding plants, in the area of En cave entrance, there are some types of evergreen trees, moss, ferns, lichens... growing. Deep inside the cave, due to light conditions, there are almost no plants.

In 2012, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province and the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park granted a license to exploit adventure tourism activities to explore En cave to Chua Me Dat - Oxalis Adventure Company Limited (located in Phong Nha town, Bo Trach district).

In addition to immersing yourself in nature, experiencing activities such as trekking through forests, wading through streams, climbing slopes... visitors will be able to explore the mysteries deep inside the cave.

Visitors can also enjoy the excitement of camping and living inside one of the largest caves in the world.

It is known that the En Cave exploration activity meets safety factors, strictly complies with heritage conservation activities and has community participation. Since the En Cave exploration tour came into operation, it has created many jobs for local residents and contributed to the State budget.
