Reality shows that the number of teachers suffering from mental illness is increasing and the main source of this is school violence, in which teachers are victims.
The writer once witnessed a parent storming into a classroom to find a teacher to "question" him just because the teacher confiscated the student's phone when it was used during class with harsh words "your life is not worth as much as my child's phone".
During the process of contact, many parents only text or call during private hours at noon, or too late at night, without realizing that teachers also need to rest and recharge their energy both mentally and physically. Many hot-tempered parents, or those who defend their children in an unreasonable way, also suppress and terrorize teachers with "exploitative" calls and scolding, but teachers cannot respond for fear of being trapped, recorded, and edited...
In May, teacher Ms. VTKQ (Dak Glong District, Dak Nong) was beaten by parents who came to her house. In October, the Vice Principal of Ham Tan High School ( Binh Thuan ) was beaten by parents and some strangers who broke into her house and had to go to the emergency room.
In addition, being "bullied" by superiors through constant scrutiny, scolding, and even raising their opinions to scare teachers also haunts many teachers. There are schools where the principals, when criticizing teachers, raise their voices, scold, and yell in front of colleagues, even in front of students. Even a certain violation is mentioned over and over again in every meeting, creating a psychological crisis for teachers when they come to school.
In addition, many teachers shared that they have to keep an eye on the school group, the homeroom teacher group, the professional group, and countless Zalo groups all day because of the constant messages. If they don't read them, they are afraid that the messages will pass, they will miss a certain task, or an "urgent" instruction from the school board, and then be criticized and evaluated for competition.
"Stubborn" students are also the perpetrators of teacher abuse. Many people think "children don't know anything", but in reality, there are always students who intentionally create a feeling of inhibition for teachers, or intentionally provoke them. Many students, when it comes to a class of a teacher they "hate", or are gentle and easy to bully, will intentionally sleep, or cause trouble, interrupt, sometimes with insolent and disrespectful words with the aim of disturbing, showing off to friends, or even "setting traps" for teachers. Many young teachers step into class with heavy feet, and step out with red eyes because of these students.
A happy school is one where both teachers and students are happy. First of all, it must be a safe and friendly environment. Teachers expect the Teachers Law to have specific and strict legal bases to protect themselves, so that teachers are no longer victims of school violence. Only then can teachers fully devote themselves to the cause of educating people.
