On the afternoon of July 19, in Sunshine Coast city, Queensland state (Australia), the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) took place in a solemn atmosphere.
Contributing to the glory of the Vietnamese team, two students from Ha Tinh , Tran Minh Hoang and Vo Trong Khai, had the honor of stepping up to the podium to receive the Gold Medal - the most prestigious award of the competition.

Tran Minh Hoang is from Tien Dien commune (Ha Tinh), currently a 12th grade student at Ha Tinh Specialized High School. Vo Trong Khai is from Dan Hai commune (Ha Tinh), is a 12th grade student at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School ( Nghe An ). Both of them studied in the same class for 4 years at Nguyen Trai Secondary School, old Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province.
In this year's exam, Vo Trong Khai scored 38 points and was among the top 10 candidates. Tran Minh Hoang scored 35 points, ranking 27th in the world. The achievements of the two students contributed significantly to the overall results of the Vietnamese team.

In addition to the two Gold Medals, the Vietnamese delegation also won three Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal. Specifically, the Silver Medals went to Nguyen Dang Dung and Nguyen Dinh Tung (High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and Le Phan Duc Man (Le Hong Phong High School for Gifted Students, Ho Chi Minh City). The Bronze Medal went to Truong Thanh Xuan (Bac Ninh High School for Gifted Students).
With a total score of 188, the Vietnamese team ranked 9th overall - surpassing many countries with strengths in Mathematics and significantly improving compared to the 2024 results.
The 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad took place from July 10-20 with the participation of more than 630 contestants from more than 110 countries and territories. This is the second time Australia has hosted the IMO, the first time in 1988. This year's competition awarded 72 gold medals, 104 silver medals and 145 bronze medals.
