Commencement and inauguration of 18 projects with total capital of over 12,000 billion in Can Tho

TPO - On the morning of September 22, to celebrate the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, Can Tho City People's Committee held the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of 18 key projects with a total investment of more than 12,000 billion VND.

Mr. Tran Van Lau - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - affirmed that the groundbreaking and inauguration of a series of projects today has profound political and social significance. Thereby, it demonstrates the spirit of solidarity, the desire for innovation and the will to rise up for a Can Tho that develops rapidly, sustainably, civilized and modern.

Accordingly, there are 8 projects started and 10 projects inaugurated, with a total investment of more than 12,000 billion VND. Notable projects include the groundbreaking of the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (first 7km of the route); the Nga Bay Green Urban Development Project to Adapt to Climate Change; and many social infrastructure projects such as schools, hospitals, cultural centers, social housing... contributing to creating a new look for Can Tho city.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City emphasized that these projects are the result of the leadership and direction of the Central Government, the determination of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, especially the households that have handed over the land for the project to be implemented on schedule.

The head of Can Tho government requested that investors and contractors promote the highest sense of responsibility, mobilize maximum construction resources to ensure quality, progress, safety and efficiency.

Delegates pressed the button to start the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0 - Km7).

“The projects that were started and inaugurated today are not only the concrete results of the efforts but also a symbol of faith and aspiration. We believe that with high political determination, a sense of responsibility and a strong will, Can Tho City will successfully complete these projects, contributing to building an increasingly rich, beautiful, civilized and modern city,” said Mr. Lau.

Mr. Le Minh Cuong - Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works of Can Tho City (investor of the expansion of National Highway 91) - said that the project is more than 7km long, 37m wide, including 6 lanes. On the expanded route of National Highway 91, there is Binh Thuy Bridge 145m long, the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 456m long, with a permanent reinforced concrete structure. The total investment is 7,238 billion VND, from the central and local budgets, expected to be completed in 2027.

“During the construction process, there will inevitably be difficulties. We are committed to implementing technical standards, ensuring progress, quality, aesthetics, labor safety and environmental sanitation,” said Mr. Cuong.

Among the 18 projects and works that were started and inaugurated to welcome the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, some projects started construction such as: Starting construction, replacing some weak bridges in the old Soc Trang province, Ba Lang road and bridge, some resettlement area projects... Some projects were inaugurated such as: Model of providing mechanized services in agriculture, emergency embankment against landslides of Cai San canal, O Mon Ward Conference Center, resettlement area, My Xuyen District Medical Center (old Soc Trang)...
