Affirming the economic position of the garden

In 2024, many Tien Phuoc gardeners will have an income of several hundred million to billions of dong from areca trees. The price of areca this year is sky-high, at times reaching over 90,000 VND/kg.

The communes of Tien Lanh, Tien Ngoc, Tien Hiep, and Tien Tho have large areca palm areas in the district. For example, Mr. Bui Van Ty's family garden (Tien Hiep commune, Tien Phuoc) has 500 areca palm trees from 7 to 15 years old. When Mr. Ty harvested, the areca palms were priced at 55,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, so he earned about 60 million VND from 1 ton of areca palms.

He shared: “This year, areca nuts have a good price, helping families have a good source of income. In fact, if the price does not increase too much, at 20,000 - 40,000 VND/kg, it will still bring a stable source of income for growers.”

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Phuoc district, the area of areca palm cultivation in the area is about 1,000 hectares, of which the area that has produced fruit is about 500 hectares. The income value from areca palm and areca palm by-products of the whole district reaches 100 - 150 billion VND/year.

In addition to the areca trees that have been grown by people for many years, Tien Phuoc also has many pepper, orange, tangerine, durian, mangosteen gardens... bringing high economic efficiency.

The district supports farmers to continue maintaining organic and VietGAP certified models including 2 hectares of organic longan trees and more than 18.2 hectares of VietGAP certified trees of various types (1 hectare of Tien Phuoc pepper, 1 hectare of oranges, more than 5.2 hectares of bananas, 11 hectares of longan).

Since the beginning of 2024, 40 more gardens have been recognized as model gardens in Tien My commune, bringing the number of recognized model gardens in the district to 364. The total value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production is estimated at 873 billion VND, an increase of 7.92% compared to 2023, exceeding the set plan by 0.92%.

In 2025, Tien Phuoc still has difficulties to overcome, especially the roadmap for building a new rural district. Tien Phuoc launched a special emulation campaign in 2025, striving to complete major goals.

In the coming time, Tien Phuoc will focus on promoting the economic restructuring of industry, handicrafts, trade, services, and tourism . Exploiting advantages to develop agriculture and forestry, planting large timber forests, and planting raw materials in an intensive manner to increase productivity, quality, output, and economic efficiency.
