According to information from the leader of Dinh Trang Thuong commune, from noon of the same day, in the commune, especially the area of ​​Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant (belonging to Trung Nam Group), there was heavy rain that lasted for many hours.

The water level of Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant suddenly rose and flowed rapidly, trapping 3 people in a family in the middle of the lake on the afternoon of July 16.

At 3:00 p.m. the same day, the locality received a report from the people about a family of 5 people (4 adults and 1 12-year-old child, residing in Tan Lam Lam Ha commune ( Lam Dong province) was playing on a small island on the hydroelectric lake in village 2 (Dinh Trang Thuong commune).

Authorities used rowboats to row through the rapids to bring 3 people trapped in the middle of Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant reservoir to shore safely.

At that time, floodwaters from upstream poured in along with the release of floodwaters from Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant, causing the water level in Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant to rise. At that time, 2 people were able to move safely to shore, while the remaining 3 people, including Mr. Do Thanh Tr. (32 years old), Ms. Tran Thi Th. (39 years old) and Tran Thi Khanh L. (12 years old), could not reach shore in time and were trapped.

At 5:00 p.m. the same day, all 3 people trapped in the middle of Dong Nai 2 Hydropower reservoir were rescued and brought safely to shore.

Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Dinh Trang Thuong Commune quickly informed Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant to temporarily stop releasing water; at the same time, mobilized more than 30 officers and soldiers from the Commune Police, Commune Military Command, along with the Security and Order Team of Village 2 and many people using boats, life jackets and necessary equipment to quickly arrive at the scene to deploy measures to rescue the trapped people.

Police and militia forces participated in the rescue of 3 people in a family trapped on the Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant reservoir (Dinh Trang Thuong commune) on the afternoon of July 16.

According to the leader of the People's Committee of Dinh Trang Thuong commune, in June 2024, at the above location, a group of tourists were also trapped when the floodwaters on Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Lake rose rapidly. At that time, the authorities promptly rescued the trapped people and brought them safely to shore. Local authorities and functional agencies have continuously warned about the danger and strictly prohibited people and tourists from playing in the middle of the lake.
