High School Graduation Exam 2025: Official Math Exam

This afternoon (June 26), candidates took the Math exam for the 2025 high school graduation exam. Below is the official Math exam from the Ministry of Education and Training.

The 2025 high school graduation math exam is in a new direction, expected to create novelty for candidates when requiring the ability to solve practical problems through applying mathematical knowledge to solve questions related to real-life contexts and interdisciplinary problems.

2025 is the first year that the high school graduation exam will be held according to the 2018 general education program. The sample exam was announced by the Ministry of Education and Training last October for teachers and students to familiarize themselves with. The exam consists of 3 parts with 34 questions.

The exam focuses on helping students develop self-study capacity, analytical thinking and mathematical reasoning as well as the ability to solve practical problems through applying mathematical knowledge to solve questions related to real-life contexts and interdisciplinary problems.

Therefore, to do well, students need to prepare for themselves a smart and flexible review plan and strategy, build a solid knowledge foundation while practicing and improving reading comprehension, analytical thinking and logical reasoning, and problem solving ability.

In 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam will be 1.16 million, an increase of nearly 94,000 compared to 2024. Of which, nearly 98% of candidates will take the exam under the 2018 General Education Program, and the remaining 2% will take the exam under the 2006 General Education Program.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. On June 25, candidates will complete exam registration procedures.

From 2025, candidates studying the 2018 General Education Program will take the high school graduation exam with 4 subjects: 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Mathematics) and 2 elective subjects from grade 12 subjects (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic & Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology). Candidates will take the exam in 3 sessions: 1 Literature session, 1 Math session, 1 session for 2 elective subjects. Literature is an essay test of 120 minutes (Reading 4 points, Writing 6 points); Math is a multiple choice test of 90 minutes; the remaining subjects are multiple choice of 50 minutes.

Candidates taking the 2006 General Education Program will participate in 4 exam sessions: 1 Literature session, 1 Math session, 1 optional exam session (Natural Science or Social Science), and 1 Foreign Language exam session.
