“Golden” potential from wind and sun

According to statistics from the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the province currently has 104 power source projects in operation with a total capacity of 8,241.89 MW. Of which, renewable energy accounts for 47.17% of the total capacity, with 97 projects in operation and is among the leading provinces in the country in wind and solar energy.

With a 192 km long coastline and a large sea area, the province is considered to have great potential for offshore wind power development. Data from the industry and trade sector shows that the average number of wind and sunshine hours in Lam Dong's sea area is higher than the average number of hours in the South; wind speed and solar radiation are high and stable, very suitable and favorable for the development of wind and solar power, especially offshore wind power.

With the approved national power development plan, it is expected that the province will develop power sources by 2035 with a total capacity of 15,133.81 MW. In particular, the plan has approved the development of green energy and renewable energy sources (wind power, solar power) in the province by 2035 with a total capacity of 6,531 MW. Therefore, the potential and opportunities for developing the electricity industry, green energy, and renewable energy of Lam Dong in the coming time are huge. If implemented well, it will open up a "golden" opportunity for investors.

To turn potential into reality

Lam Dong has shown great determination in exploiting its energy potential. Policies and plans implemented synchronously in recent times have attracted the participation of many economic sectors, promoting electricity production and distribution in many areas of the province.

The province's renewable energy development strategy clearly defines the synchronization and compliance with planning. Accordingly, the province aims to develop renewable energy sources according to the principle of optimizing the overall factors of power sources, power transmission, power distribution, economical and efficient use of electricity, ensuring compliance with the national power development plan; having a suitable roadmap along with protecting resources, the environment and transforming the economic model, ensuring national energy security at the lowest cost.

To realize the dream of turning Lam Dong into a center of green, clean, renewable energy in the country, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong has also proposed that the Provincial People's Committee propose to the Government to remove barriers, create a clear legal corridor for renewable energy and request the province to prioritize the development of offshore wind power to exploit the advantages and potential of wind energy in Lam Dong's sea area.

In addition, to attract large investors in this field, according to the Department of Industry and Trade, the province also needs to pay attention to improving the investment and business environment to attract large, capable and experienced investors. At the same time, continue to improve the infrastructure of industrial zones and clusters, calling for investment in developing supporting industries for the energy industry in the direction of gradually increasing the proportion of domestic technical equipment, reducing dependence on imported equipment from abroad; helping to significantly reduce input costs, towards a self-sufficient and sustainable industry in the future.

With a strategic vision, green energy and renewable energy are being strongly included in the province's action plan to create a foundation for the province's long-term economic growth.
