(CPV) - On December 31, to express condolences and commemorate the victims of the Jeju Air plane crash that occurred on December 29, 2024, which killed and injured many people, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh visited and signed the condolence book at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Hanoi.

Jeju Air's Boeing 737-800, flight 7C2216 from Bangkok (Thailand) to South Korea on December 29, crashed while landing, skidding off the runway and hitting a fence before bursting into flames. The crash killed 179 people and left only two survivors in critical condition. On the same day, Acting President of South Korea Choi Sang Mok declared 7 days of national mourning to remember the victims of the crash.
On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, on the afternoon of December 31, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son visited and wrote in the condolence book: “We were shocked and saddened to receive information about the Jeju Air plane crash at Muan International Airport, South Korea, causing serious damage to people and property. On behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, I would like to sincerely send my deepest condolences and most sincere regards to the Government and people of Korea, especially to the families of the victims. We firmly believe that the Government and people of Korea will overcome this great pain and loss, quickly overcome the consequences of the accident so that the lives of the victims' families can soon return to normal.”

On the same morning (December 31), on behalf of the National Assembly, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Parliamentarians Group, went to the Korean Embassy to express condolences and sign the condolence book to commemorate the victims who died in the plane crash on December 29.
Writing in the condolence book, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly sent his deepest condolences and most sincere regards to the National Assembly, the people of Korea, especially the families of the victims; believing that the Government and people of Korea will soon overcome this great loss and quickly overcome the consequences of the accident so that the victims' families can soon stabilize their lives.
On behalf of the Korean Government and people, Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Youngsam expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State for sending condolences to the Korean Government and people, as well as signing the condolence book at the Korean Embassy; emphasizing that the concern and sharing of the Vietnamese Party, State and people will contribute to helping the Korean Government and people have more motivation to overcome this difficult time and great loss.

Previously, on December 29, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent messages of condolences to Acting President of the Republic of Korea Choi Sang Mok. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent a message of condolences to Speaker of the Republic of Korea National Assembly Woo Won Shik.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent a message of condolences to Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul./.
