At the same time, the unit is in the peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, ensuring traffic order and safety, ensuring security and order to protect the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024.
Smuggled goods are being detained
Accordingly, at around 3:00 a.m. on January 11, the Waterway Police force (under the Traffic Police Department of Long An Province Police) coordinated with the Binh Thanh Commune Police and Duc Hue District Police to ambush against smuggling on the Tra Cu Thuong Canal (in the area of Binh Thanh Commune, Duc Hue District, Long An) and discovered a group of people gathering cigarettes from a motorboat onto the bank of the Tra Cu Thuong Canal. When they discovered the anti-smuggling force, these people drove the motorboat away, leaving behind evidence including 10,400 packs of cigarettes of many different brands.
Previously, at 11:00 a.m. on January 6, at Mo Heo canal (Chanh hamlet, Binh Hoa Bac commune, Duc Hue district), the Waterway Police team ambushed, discovered, and arrested a case of transporting prohibited goods (smuggled cigarettes). The violator could not be identified. The seized vehicles included 1,450 packs of foreign cigarettes, 1 engine, and 1 composite plastic boat.
Currently, the exhibits are being seized according to regulations and the owner of these contraband goods is being searched for.
In addition to cigarettes, foreign alcohol and household goods of unknown origin also frequently appear in this area.
According to Long An provincial authorities, Duc Hue is one of the district-level localities of Long An province that shares a border with Cambodia. Near Tet, the situation of smuggling banned goods of unknown origin from Cambodia to Vietnam for consumption is very complicated.
