Solemnly held the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam National Day in Bulgaria

On September 10, at the Army Club in Sofia, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Bulgaria diplomatic relations (1950-2025).

The ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Bulgaria diplomatic relations in the capital Sofia on September 10.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov; Mr. Rusi Ivanov, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the President; Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekermetova; former King, former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha; leaders of ministries (Interior, Science and Education , Culture...); along with many representatives of Bulgarian agencies, localities, ambassadors, charge d'affaires, diplomatic corps... in Sofia and representatives of associations of the Vietnamese community in Bulgaria.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet emphasized that Vietnam has overcome numerous challenges in 80 years of construction and development, rising to become a dynamic country, deeply integrated with the international community.

Up to now, Vietnam has achieved many achievements in rapid and stable economic growth for many consecutive years, striving to become the 20th largest economy in the world, having trade relations with more than 220 partners, signing 17 free trade agreements with key partners, including the European Union (EU).

The Ambassador expressed Vietnam's gratitude to all international friends, including Bulgaria, for their solidarity, support and cooperation over the past 80 years. The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of peace, independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization, being a proactive, active and responsible member of the international community, while firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Expressing his joy on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Bulgaria diplomatic relations, the Ambassador said that the two sides have continuously cultivated an increasingly strong relationship through cooperation in the fields of trade, education, culture and people-to-people exchange.

In recent years, bilateral relations have made many important strides in all fields. The two sides have increased delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively organized regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Committee mechanism, etc. On that basis, the Ambassador affirmed his desire to bring the Vietnam-Bulgaria partnership to new heights.

On the Bulgarian side, Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov expressed his honor to speak at the ceremony marking two very important anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day and the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Bulgaria relations.

Minister Borislav Gutsanov emphasized that the presence of many leaders and representatives of Bulgarian ministries, sectors and fields at the ceremony clearly demonstrated the stature and depth of the relationship between the two countries and expressed respect for the 75-year friendship between the two peoples.

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov shared that he personally witnessed the sincere and deep affection of the Vietnamese people for Bulgaria.

Sharing that he personally witnessed the sincere and deep feelings of the Vietnamese people towards Bulgaria during the visit of the National Assembly Chairman R. Zhelyazkov to Vietnam (January 2024), Minister Borislav Gutsanov said that only a few peoples in the world have such special feelings for each other.

He expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people who have overcome many difficulties and challenges to gain independence and achieve admirable achievements, currently having the 33rd largest economy in the world. As a member of the Bulgarian Government, he affirmed his readiness to support and actively contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries to new heights.

Delegates performed the cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Within the framework of the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Bulgarian delegates and representatives of the Vietnamese community participated in the cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The ceremony took place in a solemn, vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere. The special performances demonstrated the cultural exchange between the two nations. Artist Minh Trang performed famous works of Vietnam and Bulgaria with three Vietnamese traditional musical instruments (zither, monochord, T'rung), attracting the attention and love of the delegates.

Cultural performances imbued with cultural identity.

Traditional dances performed by the young generations of the two countries also contributed to highlighting the closeness and connection between the two cultures. Delegates and guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes, contributing to spreading the quintessence of national cuisine.

Overview of the Celebration.

Previously, on August 30, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria coordinated with the Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria to organize a sports exchange and the 80th National Day Celebration. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Vietnamese people in Bulgaria and especially by the young generation of Bulgarians with Vietnamese blood.

On this occasion, the Ambassador presented certificates of merit to 4 associations in the community (Vietnamese Association, Business Association, Women's Association and Youth Association); and presented certificates of merit and rewards to 11 Vietnamese students with excellent academic achievements in the 2024-2025 school year.
