Every year, in May and July, fishermen of Ly Son island district (Quang Ngai) are busy going out to sea using purse seine nets to catch aquatic products, mainly anchovies. This rhythm of life becomes an interesting subject for photography lovers.
The “dance” of the green nets on the sea comes in many different shapes, such as circles, hearts or lotus leaves. Seen from above, each net is stretched out in the middle of the sea, as if skillfully arranged by an artist.
Purse nets are used to catch fish by filtering water, and are dropped from ships and pulled up to the ship. Purse nets are used to catch fish in schools and are only dropped to a certain depth. When anchovy schools are discovered, fishermen use a seine net to catch fish. The ship is pulling the purse seine. During the fishing process, the shape of the purse seine always changes. From the beginning of the net, it is a flat net, to the end of the net, it is a cylinder, and when the rolling process is carried out, it is a spherical cone shape."
