The program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" awarded 5 million VND in support to help artist Huu Thanh.

The first destination was Nhon Hoa communal house (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), the group met with artist Huu Thanh. This year he is over 80 years old, still living in a rented house, which according to him, the price keeps increasing so the old couple has to find a place to live to stabilize their lives and continue their acting career.

Known as "the number one old actor", artist Huu Thanh is a contemporary of actors Mai Thanh, Ho Kieng... Up to this point, he has participated in more than 116 films, is one of the artists who plays the most supporting roles on Vietnamese screens, leaving an impression with old roles through works such as: "Nomad Footprints", "Buffalo Wool Season", "Southern Land", "Western Capital Beauty", " Ho Chi Minh Trail on the Sea", "Out of Phase"...

Most recently, he participated in a traditional music video made by artist Vo Minh Lam and Meritorious Artist Thoai My after being awarded the 2019 Mai Vang Award in the category of most favorite stage actor.

Artist Huu Thanh expressed his emotions when receiving the support money from the program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai"

Artist Huu Thanh said he loved the art of amateur music since he was 10 years old and left home early to join the Thai Binh troupe. At first, he applied to be an errand boy for the troupe and was then assigned to play small roles. After a few years of experience in the profession, he was assigned to play the main role by the Thoi - Huu Chi Cai Luong Troupe and changed his name from "cu Lac" given by his parents to the stage name Huu Thanh.

Mr. Thoi loved him because he was kind and hard-working, so he married his daughter. He and his wife had 6 children. However, they all lived in poverty because they did not have a stable education.

"I went through many hardships when the Thai Binh troupe disbanded, I had to take my whole family to travel all over the West, joining troupes such as Mong Van, Hoa Sen, Huong Mua Thu... After that, I became the Deputy Artistic Director of Hau Giang II but I couldn't stay long. In 1990, I drifted to Ho Chi Minh City and entered the film industry. Life in a rented house was very difficult, because I was so poor, the rented house was about 10 square meters, my wife and I lived with our youngest son" - Artist Huu Thanh confided.

Artist Huu Thanh in the movie "Buffalo Wool Season" left many impressions on viewers.

The salary from playing supporting roles in movies is not enough to buy a house. He said that over the past 20 years, his family has lived in 6 rented houses. Sometimes when it rains, the water floods so much that the whole family cannot sleep and can only sit and watch the rain leak everywhere in the house.

"I am still the breadwinner of the family. During the months of social distancing, I had no money to pay rent and had to take my wife and children wandering around. My hair and beard have turned gray. I was startled to see that I am still living in a rented house. I feel so guilty towards my wife and children" - he was moved and expressed his gratitude for the timely support of the "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" program, not only for him but also for other fellow artists: "Life is more difficult now, having this joint effort is very warm and meaningful. Thank you Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper and Nam A Bank".

The program "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" awarded 5 million VND to support artist Bo Bo Hoang.

The delegation visited artist Bo Bo Hoang at a small house located deep in an alley on Ho Hao Hon Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. This is a familiar address for cai luong stage artists because for many years, when she left the stage, she worked as a hat maker and wig maker for artists and ancient film crews.

As a multi-talented female artist, Bo Bo Hoang is also an actress, scriptwriter, director and hat maker. Winning the Thanh Tam Award Gold Medal in 1965 along with Meritorious Artist Bao Quoc, My Chau, Phuong Binh, she was a talented female artist at one time sought after by many troupes. She has worked in many troupes, from famous big groups to provincial cai luong troupes. She also guided many generations of young artists to fame, including artist Cam Thu, who won the Tran Huu Trang Award Gold Medal for the role of Phan Kim Lien, which she composed and directed.

"It's getting late, and I can make a living doing this job. However, during the social distancing period, all the singing and film troupes have stopped, and no one has placed orders. Having the support of the "Mai Vang Nhan Ai" program has made me feel touched, because artists in the evening, when they leave the stage, are still cared for. I was honored to have participated in the "Mai Vang Connection" program, performing with singer Phuong Thanh and actor Chan Cuong in the excerpt "The Reckless Pregnant Woman" at industrial parks serving workers" - female genius Bo Bo Hoang shared.
