"Mai Vang Tri An" visits and gives gifts to composer Nham Hung and painter Tran Thien

On November 29, in Nhon Ai commune, Phong Dien district, Can Tho city, the program "Golden apricot gratitude" organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with the support of Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank visited and presented gifts (10 million VND each) to cultural researcher, composer Nham Hung and painter, musician Tran Thien.

The playwright owes a debt to his homeland.

Cultural researcher and writer Nham Hung was born in Phung Hiep ( Hau Giang ), in a family with a rich revolutionary tradition. As a child, he studied in his hometown, and in 10th grade, he moved to Saigon to study.

At the age of 20, he actively participated in literary and artistic activities, patriotic journalism in the student movement. He was arrested and imprisoned three times in Chi Hoa, Tay Ninh, and Long An .

After the complete liberation of the South, he returned to work in his hometown, rotating through many departments in the cultural field.

He used to be the Captain of the Mobile Information Team of Hau Giang Province and the Head of the Cultural House of Phung Hiep District. He was the author of the famous cultural boat model of Phung Hiep at one time.

In 1994, he held the position of Deputy Director of Tay Do Theater until his retirement in 2009. With more than half of his life devoted to the cultural and artistic career, Nham Hung became a prestigious name assigned to design the spring flower street of Can Tho City, "holding the scales of justice" at the Southern Folk Cake Festival, directing many cultural events...

Nham Hung is also famous as a cultural researcher with dozens of books: "Learning about the land and people of Hau Giang", "Phong Dien - a spiritual land and talented people", "Can Tho - old streets and ancient features", "Floating markets in the Mekong Delta"...

When receiving the gift from the "Golden Apricot Gratitude" program, he expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Lao Dong Newspaper to artists of the Delta.

This gesture will be the motivation for him to continue to devote himself and create, do a good job of cultural research, and write scripts to serve the people.

Talented painter and musician

When mentioning Tay Do Theater, we cannot forget the contributions of painter and musician Tran Thien. He entered the profession in 1976 from his passion for painting as a young man participating in the An Hoa ward youth union, Ninh Kieu district.

At first, he cooperated with friends in the area to build an advertising studio. One day, artist The Nhan came to invite Hau Giang 1 Opera Troupe to help paint the scenery for a opera that was about to open. He did not expect that event to make him forever attached to the stage.

In addition to being a painter, Tran Thien is also a musician, he is associated with the Hau Giang 1 band and then the Tay Do band. He has passed on his passion for music and love for the profession to the young generation of artists of the Tay Do brand.

In 1982, he held the position of Deputy Head of the troupe, and in 2010, he became the head of the Tay Do troupe. After the troupe was upgraded to Tay Do Theatre, in 2013, he became the deputy director of the theatre until the end of 2016 when he retired.

When receiving the gift from the program "Mai Vang Tri An", he confided: "Today, receiving this gift, I feel that I need to contribute more. Even though I am retired, I am still a spiritual support for my juniors to follow, to do decent art, so that the stage of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces always has its own identity, not disappointing the expectations of the audience."
