In February, Man City faced 115 charges related to Financial Fair Play (since 2009). Among these, they were accused of fraudulent accounting, financial reporting and failing to cooperate with the investigation. This was the result of an investigation by the Premier League that lasted from 2018.

After the allegations were announced, Man City denied them. Since then, the Premier League and Man City have not made any further statements.

However, this issue has heated up again after Everton FC was deducted 10 points in the Premier League for a similar (less serious) violation. According to the Daily Mail, Man City and the Premier League have agreed to set up a tribunal.

The trial is set for autumn 2024. If found guilty, Man City could face a very heavy penalty as they are involved in multiple violations at the highest level.

The verdict of the Jury has a big impact on Man City and coach Pep Guardiola. His contract with The Citizens expires in June 2025. The Spanish coach can consider the fate of the club to decide the future.

However, according to the British press, the lawsuit could last a long time. In case either side is not satisfied with the decision, they can appeal to the Supreme Court of Arbitration. Man City also used this method to escape UEFA's accusations related to Financial Fair Play regulations.
