The project to expand the Au Co - Nghi Tam dyke road from the Thang Loi hotel intersection to the Nhat Tan bridge intersection, 3.7 km long, is part of the project to build an overpass at the An Duong - Thanh Nien intersection, phase 2, approved by Hanoi City in 2019 (in Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts).
Part of the Au Co - Nghi Tam dike expansion project
This is a special dike project, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project has a total investment of over 815 billion VND and the Hanoi People's Committee has requested the Prime Minister to implement it under a special and urgent mechanism.
According to Thanh Nien , the construction unit has basically completed the demolition of the old dike system to widen the road. In addition, workers are focusing on constructing the structure for the new dike layer with reinforced concrete. The new dike section after completion will have a height of 2.4 m from the road surface.
The expanded dike area is being urgently completed.
To widen and lower the dike, a part of Au Co road was fenced with corrugated iron and divided into lanes. Each lane is about 3-4 meters wide. However, in recent days, the dike opposite 116A Au Co has been seriously cracked. The crack, more than 50 meters long, running along the dike, has made local residents worried because it poses a potential risk of traffic accidents.
Many cracks tens of meters long run across the Au Co dike surface.
Some residents said that it was possible that heavy trucks passing by at night could not withstand the pressure and caused the dike to crack. In addition to the dike cracking, some people also complained that the construction was slow, causing noise, traffic jams and dust.
Hanoi Transport Construction Investment Management Board informed that the project will be completed by the end of 2024.
The cracked dike has been patched with concrete by the construction unit.

Regarding the above issue, a leader of Tay Ho District People's Committee said that the government has received the information and contacted the construction unit to inspect this road section.
The leader of Tay Ho District People's Committee added that the construction unit believes that these cracks do not greatly affect the safety of road users, so they will be thoroughly handled when the new dike section is completed.
