Mbappe scores, Real Madrid continues to win in La Liga

(Dan Tri) - Goals from Militao and Mbappe helped Real Madrid defeat Espanyol 2-0 at Bernabeu Stadium in round 5 of La Liga in the early morning of September 21.

Welcoming weak opponent Espanyol, Real Madrid fielded an attacking lineup. Young talent Gonzalo Garcia was placed alongside Vinicius and Mbappe in the attack. Real Madrid pressed the field right from the opening whistle thanks to home field advantage.

Real Madrid's constant pressure was realized in the 22nd minute, when center-back Militao suddenly unleashed a powerful long-range shot from outside the penalty area into Espanyol's net, opening the score.

During the rest of the first half, Real Madrid created many opportunities but their strikers finished quite unluckily.

In the second half, Real Madrid continued to show their strength against the Catalan team. In the 47th minute, Mbappe shot from afar into the near corner, surprising goalkeeper Dmitrovic, doubling the gap to 2-0 and ensuring victory for the "White Vultures".

Real Madrid played slowly but they still controlled the game well in the remaining minutes. Meanwhile, Espanyol tried hard but they lacked sharpness in attack and could not approach Courtois' goal.

Defeating Espnayol 2-0 at Bernabeu, Real Madrid continued to lead La Liga with 15 points and they are the only team to maintain a winning streak since the beginning of the tournament.
