This morning, September 25, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Director of the Department of Intellectual Property and the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
The content of the memorandum is a comprehensive agreement covering all areas of cooperation on intellectual property, from policy and law development on intellectual property to raising awareness, training human resources, supporting businesses and improving capacity for national intellectual property agencies.
The objective of the memorandum is to cooperate in priority areas to support Vietnam in achieving its goals of breakthrough development in science , technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
The Director General of WIPO and the Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property signed a memorandum of understanding witnessed by the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Specifically, the two sides prioritized six areas of implementation, including: laws, policies and strategies on intellectual property; global intellectual property protection system; capacity building and support for businesses; innovation, research and commercialization; awareness, education and training on intellectual property; capacity building, organizational governance and dispute resolution for intellectual property agencies.
In particular, with innovation, research and commercialization, the two sides will jointly promote the creation and commercialization of domestic intellectual property. This series of activities includes promoting cooperation between universities and enterprises, technology transfer, conducting research on intellectual property; research on building indicators to measure the contribution of intellectual property to socio-economic development.
The Ministry of Science and Technology believes that the Memorandum of Understanding will open a new chapter of cooperation between Vietnam and WIPO in the field of intellectual property, especially in the world's trend of shifting from protection to commercialization of intellectual property rights.
