This is a proud milestone not only for Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung personally, but also for FPT University in particular and Vietnamese science in general.

According to the announcement of Stanford – Elsevier, the 2025 list recorded 236,314 scientists in the 2% group out of nearly 12 million global scientists, spread across 22 fields and 174 different specialties. In which, Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung is ranked in the field of Applied Mathematics and Statistics, a fundamental but challenging research field.

Sharing about the moment of being honored, Mr. Hung confided: “This is a recognition of 10 years of dedicated research and also a summary of 6 years of working with the Department of Business Administration, FPT University. Scientists do not work for rankings, but being recognized by the international community is a great source of encouragement, and at the same time, gives the younger generation more confidence to boldly engage in research and international integration."

During his time working at FPT University since 2019, Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung focused on researching multi-criteria decision making methods (MCDM), fuzzy sets, Neutrosophic sets and data analysis models applied in management, logistics, finance and sustainable development. This is also the scientific foundation that helped him get his name in the prestigious Stanford - Elsevier rankings.

In addition, Mr. Hung is also a member of the Editorial Board of many leading international scientific journals, including: Humanities and Social Sciences Communications (SSCI – Q1, Springer Nature, UK); Scientific Reports (SSCI – Q1, Springer Nature, UK) - Discover Analytics (Springer Nature, UK); ICCK Transactions on Advanced Fuzzy Systems (Central Institute for Computing and Knowledge – ICCK, USA).

The special point in Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung's research journey is that he always accompanies his students. He not only considers guiding topics as a teaching task, but also considers it an opportunity to help students create truly valuable academic works. Many student topics under his guidance have been published in journals in the Scopus and ISI systems.

One of the typical works is the research: “Analysis of Quantum Computing's Applicability in Data Analysis: Utilizing a Hybrid MCDM Approach With Quantum Spherical Fuzzy Sets” (SCI-Q1). This work is a pioneer in combining the logic of Quantum Computing with the flexibility of Spherical Fuzzy Sets to solve complex, uncertain decision-making problems in the fields of management and business. This is a testament to Professor Hung's philosophy: "Accompanying students not only to complete a graduation thesis, but also to create academic values that can spread in the international scientific community".

Sharing about his achievements, Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung said that part of his achievements are thanks to the environment at FPT University. The school creates conditions for lecturers to pursue research, from international publication mechanisms, academic connections to free creative spaces.

"FPT's open, creative and internationally oriented academic culture is an important source of motivation, helping me to promote my capacity, develop the research team, and at the same time inspire students to boldly participate in scientific topics. In particular, the Selfmade Man spirit at FPT University, which emphasizes initiative and self-effort, has created an ideal environment for me to freely create and assert myself," Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung shared.

To young people who are embarking on their research journey, Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung advised: “Scientific research is a long journey, requiring patience, passion and constant trial and error. Start with small steps, persevere to the end, and don’t be afraid to try again if you are not successful. Every experience contributes to creating valuable baggage for you in the future.”

The fact that Dr. Nguyen Phi Hung and other domestic scientists were honored in the Top 2% of the world's most influential scientists is proof that Vietnamese academia is gradually integrating strongly with the international community. This achievement also shows the increasingly important role of autonomous and innovative universities such as FPT University in promoting applied scientific research, connecting with global trends. In the future, with the continuous efforts of dedicated scientists like Mr. Hung, Vietnamese science promises to continue to have many more meaningful contributions, bringing Vietnamese intelligence far and wide.
