
From midnight last night until this morning, October 7, Hanoi was hit by torrential rain accompanied by continuous thunder and lightning. Early in the morning, many roads and streets were deeply flooded. Many people had to get up at 3-4 am to go to work to avoid traffic jams during rush hour.
At nearly 7 o'clock, the rain had not stopped and the sky was dark.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning that at 6:15 a.m., the Hanoi area will have heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain. The amount of rain in the past 6 hours is 50 to 100mm, some stations measured heavy rain such as Soc Son 157.2mm, Me Tri 100.2mm.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that in the next 3 to 6 hours, the Hanoi area will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 50 to 100mm, locally over 150mm. The rain will decrease rapidly from this evening and tonight.
The meteorological agency warned that people should be on guard against flooding in low-lying areas in the inner city. This rain could cause flooding 0.2-0.4 meters deep on many streets, lasting from 1 to 3 hours, and longer in some places.
Flood-prone areas include: Tran Vu, Cao Ba Quat, Lieu Giai, Doi Can, Ngoc Khanh, Dao Tan, Phung Hung, Bat Dan, Duong Thanh, Trang Tien - Hang Bai, Nguyen Huu Huan, Tong Dan, Dinh Liet, Ta Hien - Luong Ngoc Quyen, Nguyen Sieu - Ngo Gach, Phan Boi Chau - Ly Thuong Kiet, Quang Trung, Tho Nhuom, Van Ho, Nguyen Cong Tru, Ba Trieu, Lo Duc, Lien Tri - Nguyen Gia Thieu, Minh Khai, Lang Ha, Huynh Thuc Khang, Nguyen Khuyen, Le Duan, Truong Chinh, Cau Giay, Pham Hung, Duy Tan, To Hieu, Le Van Luong, To Huu, Giai Phong, Tan Mai, Linh Nam, Dinh Cong, Nguyen Xien, Linh Dam and many other areas.
