According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from September 9 to this morning, September 10, in the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien , Son La, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang and Quang Ninh, there has been moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, due to the distant influence of the circulation after storm No. 7. Today, the North and North Central regions are warned of localized but concentrated rain, in some places over 200mm in a short period of time.

In some provinces in the northern mountainous region, heavy rain has caused landslides on roads, causing concern for traffic participants. Information from Lao Cai province said that yesterday afternoon, September 9, prolonged heavy rain caused a landslide at Km299+200 on National Highway 32 through Pung Luong commune.

Hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil from the positive slope suddenly collapsed, burying the entire road surface, making it impossible for vehicles to pass, causing traffic congestion from Kim intersection to Mu Cang Chai commune. This is the area that suffered serious landslides during storm No. 5 at the end of August.

Immediately after the incident, the commune police force stood guard, stretched ropes, and placed warning signs. At the same time, Road Construction Joint Stock Company 1 mobilized excavators to try to clear the road. Mr. Vu Van Thai, a truck driver, said: "Due to the landslide, last night, some trucks had to sleep in Mu Cang Chai waiting for the road to be cleared."
