Male student from 'village' school achieved double valedictorian: 30/30 points in block A00, topping the aptitude test

This morning, when looking up his high school graduation exam results, Nguyen Duy Phong, a 12A5 student at Chuong My A High School (Hanoi), could not hide his joy when he saw that all three subjects of Math, Physics, and Chemistry scored a perfect 10. With this achievement, Phong became one of the two top students in the A00 group in Hanoi this year. What is special is that the male student of the "village" school was also the top student in the Hanoi National University's aptitude test - a double achievement that made his teachers, family, and friends proud.

Duy Phong shared that he woke up at 6am this morning to wait for his exam results. When he saw the results, he “screamed out loud” because he was so happy.

In the A00 group, his Math exam results were 10 points, Physics 10 points and Chemistry 10 points. With this score, Duy Phong became one of the 8 valedictorians of the A00 group and set the goal of being admitted to Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

According to the male student, this year's exam was quite difficult but it classified students well. Especially the Math exam, which was more difficult than last year, so it required candidates to concentrate highly to complete it. In particular, the practical questions had to be read carefully to avoid misunderstanding the requirements.

To enroll in university this year, Duy Phong participated in the aptitude test and thinking test. He became the valedictorian of the aptitude test (HSA) of Hanoi National University with a score of 130/150 points, so when he entered the high school graduation exam, he was confident and not pressured by his scores.

The male student's study method is to focus on mastering the basic knowledge in class and then practice exercises on each topic. Every night, he spends about 3 hours practicing questions and divides his time between subjects reasonably.

Especially with this year's Math exam, there are difficult and new parts such as true-false and fill-in-the-blank questions, so you need to prioritize spending more time to study carefully as well as practice. When you have a solid foundation of knowledge, you are confident to apply it to difficult questions.

Village school has double valedictorian for the first time

Sharing with Tien Phong reporter , Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Principal of Chuong My An High School, said that this is the first year the school has had a valedictorian in the High School Graduation Exam, so he is very happy.

"Duy Phong is a good student in all subjects since middle school, with Chemistry being his strongest subject," according to teacher Truong.

When entering high school, he had good self-study ability so he almost only studied at school, under the guidance of subject teachers. In the cluster and city-level competitions for excellent students, the male student also brought home prizes for the school.

In particular, Mr. Truong and the teachers are proud because this year Phong is not only the valedictorian of block A00 with a perfect score, but previously he was also the valedictorian of the Hanoi National University's HSA exam.

During the learning process, teachers discovered that students had outstanding abilities, so in addition to teaching basic knowledge, they often gave them advanced exercises to help them develop their full potential.

"Since February 2025, when Circular 29 strengthening management of extra teaching and learning was implemented in practice, Phong and his friends formed a group to share and support each other in studying. And this student is the one who supports his friends a lot in the learning process," Mr. Truong shared.

On the morning of July 16, the Department of Education and Training informed that after the exam results were released, Hanoi had 3 valedictorians in blocks A00, A1, and D00. Of these, there were 2 valedictorians in block A00 with a score of 30/30, meaning the candidates got 10 points in all the exams in the group.

In particular, candidate Nguyen Duy Phong, a 12A5 student at Chuong My A High School, is one of the 'village' schools that every year has an entrance score for grade 10 that is not in the top group, but has had students achieve excellent graduation exam results.
