Upgrading and building new hospitals in the North, South, Central and Central Highlands

Accordingly, regarding the distribution of the health network, there will be two groups of provincial general hospitals taking on regional functions (for example, Son La, Yen Bai , Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Bac Giang General Hospitals taking on the functions of hospitals in the Northern midlands and mountainous region; Dak Lak General Hospital taking on the Central Highlands region; Ho Chi Minh City taking on the Southeast region...).

Groups of provincial specialized hospitals such as oncology departments in Phu Tho, Hanoi , Nghe An, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho; cardiology departments in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho; obstetrics and pediatrics departments in Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho; rehabilitation departments in Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An; infectious diseases and tropical diseases departments in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa... assume the function of regional specialized hospitals.

The Ministry of Health also said that it will upgrade university hospitals into modern, high-tech specialized hospitals on par with the region. Currently, there are Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Hanoi National University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, etc.

In the near future, Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Vietnam National University will put into operation a new, modern facility.

In addition, encourage the development of high-tech private specialized hospitals, expand the scale of private hospital beds to 10% by 2025, 15% by 2030.

The state budget and other sources of capital also invested in building two prenatal screening and diagnosis centers in Thai Nguyen and Dak Lak, upgrading six similar centers in Hanoi, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and the Geriatric Hospital for the Mekong Delta region in the period 2026 - 2030.

After 2030, two specialized medical complex centers will be built in Bac Ninh and Long An.
