Upgrading the capacity of Long Xuyen 220 kV transformer station to 500 MVA

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of September 22, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) coordinated with relevant units to energize the project of installing 2 220 kV Long Xuyen transformer stations (TSBs), thereby increasing the capacity of this substation to 500 MVA.

The project of installing 2 transformers at Long Xuyen 220 kV substations is invested by EVNNPT, NPTPMB manages and operates the project on behalf of the investor, and Power Transmission Company 4 takes over the operation. The project is built in Long Xuyen ward, An Giang province.

The project has a scale of installing an additional 220/110/22 kV transformer with a capacity of 250 MVA, increasing the total capacity of the station to 500 MVA. The number of 220 kV bays includes: One 220 kV transformer bay (AT1) and two 220 kV transmission line bays (to Thot Not, Chau Doc).

110 kV side, installing loop busbar; one 110 kV total bus bay for 220/110 kV-250 MVA transformer; one 110 kV line bay to 110 kV Thoi Thuan station; one 110 kV line bay to 110 kV Vinh Thanh station; one 110 kV line bay to 110 kV Thoai Son station (circuit 1) and one 110 kV loop bay.

Mr. Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of NPTPMB, said that during the implementation process, the project always received the attention of EVNNPT leaders, the coordination of dispatching levels, Power Transmission Company 4, along with the determined efforts of NPTPMB staff and contractors participating in the project, so the project was completed on schedule.

After successful energization, the project will help reduce the load and avoid overloading of the existing Long Xuyen 220 kV transformer; increase the 220 kV power supply to supply the 110 kV substations that will come into operation in the period up to 2030, contributing to improving voltage quality.

At the same time, it meets the load demand of An Giang province and neighboring areas, increases power supply to 110 kV substations in the area; thereby improving the reliability of power supply, contributing to the socio -economic development of the province.

According to Mr. Le Tuan Anh, NPTPMB is continuing to implement many items to prevent the output and the connection lines of the transformer station. However, the implementation process still faces problems in compensation and site clearance. NPTPMB hopes to receive the attention and support of the government and people of An Giang province so that the remaining items can be completed in 2025 to ensure electricity supply for An Giang province and neighboring areas.
