This is a level I, group C energy project invested by EVNNPT, managed by NPTPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company 1.

The project is carried out in the reserve land of the existing 220 kV Tuong Duong transformer station in Tam Quang commune, Nghe An province.

The project has a scale of installing an AT2 220/110/22 kV transformer with a capacity of 125 MVA. The 220 kV side installs equipment for a total 220 kV feeder of the AT2 transformer.

On the 110 kV side, install equipment for a 110 kV total feeder bay of the AT2 transformer at bay E04, a bypass bay at bay E05, install a 3-phase disconnector on busbar C19 (bays E01, E08, E14, E16) and complete the diagram of 2 busbars on the 110 kV side with a loop busbar.

The control, protection and measurement system, communication and SCADA systems are invested in synchronously with the control, protection and measurement systems for AT2 transformers, newly installed feeders and existing feeders to suit the new diagram, in accordance with the regulations of Vietnam Electricity Group, EVNNPT and comply with current rules and regulations.

Once completed, the project will strengthen the connection to import electricity from the Nam Mo hydropower plant cluster (Laos) to Vietnam according to the agreement between the two governments .

At the same time, release the capacity of medium and small hydropower plants in the Southwest region of Nghe An province that have been and are preparing to invest in construction; improve the reliability of power supply for the load in Nghe An province.

Mr. Vo Luong Nhan, Deputy Director of NPTPMB said: During the implementation process, the project encountered many challenges due to the rainy and flooded weather in the area, especially the recent impact of storms No. 5 and No. 10. Along with that, arranging the power outage schedule for project construction also encountered many difficulties due to the high demand for electricity generation during the flood season.

However, with the close direction of EVNNPT leaders, NPTPMB and the units participating in the project, the project has been completed on schedule, ready to increase the import of electricity from Laos to Vietnam to enhance the power supply for the North after the 220 kV Tuong Duong - Do Luong and Do Luong - Nam Cam lines are completed in the near future.
