Russia begins clinical trials of EnteroMix cancer vaccine

Forty-eight volunteers have been approved for phase one clinical trials, and the National Medical Research Center of Radiology is the first medical facility in Russia tasked with conducting the trials.

On June 20, within the framework of the 28th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Mr. Andrey Kaprin - Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health and Director General of the National Medical Research Center for Radiology, said that the country has started a clinical trial of the EnteroMix cancer vaccine.

According to Mr. Kaprin, 48 volunteers have been approved for phase one clinical trials of the vaccine and the National Medical Research Center of Radiology is the first medical facility in Russia tasked with conducting vaccine trials at this stage.

Mr. Kaprin assessed the side effects of the EnteroMix vaccine as insignificant.

Previously, in December last year, Mr. Kaprin announced the selection of candidates to participate in the clinical trial of the tumor-destroying vaccine EnteroMix.

Patients with a "histologically confirmed tumor" (diagnosed through microscopic examination of a tissue sample, usually after a biopsy) and who have tried all available treatments (including anti-tumor drugs) are invited to participate in clinical trials.

As expected, EnteroMix will be a free vaccine for patients in Russia./.
