Industry and Trade sector confidently enters new journey

QTO - Accompanying the development of the homeland, through each stage, the Industry and Trade sector has left a strong mark in the industrialization and modernization of the homeland. From an economy mainly based on agriculture, forestry and fishery, Quang Tri has gradually affirmed its position with the synchronous development of industry, trade and import and export.

With major projects such as Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant, Quang Trach II LNG Thermal Power Plant, and many wind and solar power projects that have been and are being implemented, Quang Tri is on its way to becoming a clean, green and efficient energy center of the Central region and the whole country. In the near future, there will be offshore wind power, natural gas power and renewable energy sources. This is a direction in line with the green energy transition trend, helping Quang Tri develop sustainably and contributing to ensuring national energy security.

In the processing and manufacturing industry, the Quang Tri Industry and Trade sector continues to promote advantageous fields such as construction materials, textiles, wood, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, while orienting to attract the development of basic industries, such as: High-tech industry, mechanics, electronics, new materials, digital economy . Quang Tri is considered the capital of the industrial garment industry with 9 large factories and dozens of small and medium-sized garment establishments, providing jobs for about 10,000 local workers.

Along with industrial sewing, the wood processing industry is also considered a strength of the province with dozens of projects on processing planted forest wood that have been approved for investment by the province. Currently, many factories have been put into effective operation, exporting wood products from Quang Tri to advanced countries such as: Korea, Japan and some European countries...

Quang Tri's trade and services have also made a strong transformation. Accordingly, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue have increased continuously over the years, averaging over 10.2%/year. The commercial infrastructure system has been invested in a modern, civilized and convenient direction, playing a good role as a bridge between production and consumption, purchasing and consuming products for businesses and farmers.

Currently, in the province there are 250 traditional markets, 2 commercial centers and 9 large supermarkets that have contributed to changing shopping methods, helping consumers better access high-quality goods at reasonable prices. The contribution to the commercial sector of Quang Tri cannot be ignored without mentioning Quang Tri Petroleum Company.

Deputy Director of Quang Tri Petroleum Company Le Anh Tuan shared: “Over the past years, as a key petroleum supplier in the area, Quang Tri Petroleum Company has always closely accompanied the provincial Department of Industry and Trade in carrying out socio-economic development tasks, ensuring energy security and market stabilization.

During times of market fluctuations, when gasoline prices fluctuate, the company always proactively coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade to implement stabilization measures, avoiding shortages or supply disruptions. We are committed to continuing to accompany the province and the Department of Industry and Trade in all activities, contributing to the sustainable development of the locality."

The province's import-export activities have also made new progress. From only meeting domestic demand, the trade sector has gradually expanded to the international market with nearly 20 countries and territories, with main export products such as: Clinker, export garments, seafood, coffee, processed wood and agricultural products. In contrast, imports focus on production materials and technology, with total turnover increasing by an average of 8.6%/year.

Along with that, border trade is promoted through upgrading La Lay Border Gate to an international border gate and investing heavily in infrastructure of Lao Bao Special Economic Zone, Cha Lo International Border Gate - a trading center on the East-West economic corridor. The service industry has also seen strong changes, especially tourism and logistics.

One of the activities that the Industry and Trade sector has paid special attention to recently is rural industrial development. Up to now, the whole province has planned 64 industrial clusters; of which, 25 clusters have been put into operation with an occupancy rate of 72%.

The whole province currently has about 12,000 production facilities; including many craft villages, cooperatives, production facilities with abundant, highly skilled labor force, so products are always highly appreciated by customers for their quality, design, sophistication, and many products have been exported abroad.

Accompanying production establishments, the Provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion has supported cooperatives, craft villages, production and business establishments to boldly apply digital transformation, put products on trade exchanges, and link with many domestic trade exchanges with the desire that Quang Tri branded products will increasingly reach further.

The national and local industrial promotion programs have increasingly affirmed their important role in motivating and encouraging rural enterprises and industrial establishments to boldly invest and expand production and business; contributing to the community many quality rural industrial products, recognized as typical at the provincial, regional and national levels.

Talking about the key tasks and solutions for the 2025-2030 period, Mr. Ho Xuan Hoe, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized: "To realize the goal by 2030, the added value of the industry will reach 16,732 billion VND, with an average growth of 14-15%/year, the Industry and Trade sector will focus on 6 key tasks and solutions.

In addition to solutions to continue perfecting mechanisms and policies, developing synchronous infrastructure, and prioritizing the implementation of driving projects, we continue to accompany and support businesses, promote strategic investment promotion to improve the quality of trade promotion and trade connection, promote administrative reform and digital transformation...

These are tasks and solutions that are both immediate and of long-term strategic significance. With the efforts and determination of the entire industry, along with the support of the government, businesses and the people, the Quang Tri Industry and Trade sector will strive to continue to develop strongly, becoming the main driving force to firmly put Quang Tri on the path to becoming a dynamic and sustainably developing province in the coming time."
