After a long period of difficulties, the province's maritime transport industry has shown signs of improvement, especially in the fields of ship repair, shipbuilding and maritime transport.

On the morning of October 12, in Ha Long City, Ha Long Shipbuilding Company held a launching ceremony for the wind power service vessel CSOV 8720-YN552205, continuing to mark the unit's remarkable development in the field of shipbuilding. The vessel is nearly 90m long, with a total tonnage of 2,000 tons. This is a type of service vessel supporting the offshore wind power industry and is a type of vessel with a complex system, requiring high levels of expertise and skills in construction. This is also the first vessel to be launched among 14 wind power service vessels (each valued at 250 billion VND) that the Company signed a contract with Damen Group (Netherlands). Along with the wind power service vessel construction contracts, the Company is promoting negotiations to sign a contract to build 2 new export tourist passenger vessels 120M-03, 120M-04, with each vessel valued at about 130 billion VND; Negotiate contracts for tourist passenger ships and 4,000-8,000-ton oil tankers. It is expected that in the period of 2024-2026, the Company will construct and build 20 new ships, including 1 24,500-ton ship, 2 45,000-ton cargo ships, 8 wind power service ships, 2 120-meter yachts, and 6 other products. These contracts will ensure that in 2024, the Company's production value will reach over 727 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, General Director of Ha Long Shipbuilding Company, said: Instead of building small ships, now, The company has successfully launched many large ships up to tens of thousands of tons. The unit has been and is continuing to develop and innovate constantly to meet the most stringent standards of quality, safety and efficiency, meeting the global wind power industry as well as to strongly affirm the position of the Vietnamese shipbuilding industry in the international market. With Damen's order, as well as contracts signed with domestic and foreign customers, the Company has enough jobs until 2028 for more than 1,000 workers.
Positive signals from Ha Long Shipbuilding Company show that the Quang Ninh shipbuilding industry is having great opportunities in the process of finding partners and developing new orders to regain its inherent position and form.

Along with the positive changes in shipbuilding activities, due to the increasing demand for sea transport, the province's maritime transport services have developed strongly. Especially in the past 2 years, in the province, there are 2 maritime transport enterprises listed in the prestigious private fleet in the country. Specifically: Hai Nam Co., Ltd. and Viet Thuan Transport Co., Ltd. In which, Viet Thuan Transport Co., Ltd. has proactively invested in a fleet of ships with different transport segments from 5,000-80,000 tons, meeting the strict standards of the supply chain from warehouses to factories of some raw material consumers such as Vinh Tan Thermal Power Plant, Hoa Phat Steel Group. In addition, Viet Thuan Transport Company Limited also has 17 ships with a tonnage of over 10,000-76,000 DWT, operating on international routes such as Indonesia, China, Philippines... and domestic routes in the country (Quang Ninh, Dung Quat, Vung Ang, Duyen Hai, Vinh Tan, Can Tho...). In addition, the Company also has a fleet of inland waterway vehicles with 48 vehicles operating domestically. Currently, Viet Thuan Transport Company Limited has developed into Viet Thuan Group, a strong multi-industry economic group, with a total tonnage of the fleet and watercraft of approximately 1 million tons, an annual transport output of tens of millions of tons and is the number 1 enterprise in the fastest growing inland waterway transport industry in Vietnam.
As for Hai Nam Company Limited, it currently has 12 ships, including 6 ships with a capacity of 31,000-53,000 DWT running international routes - Asia and 6 ships with a capacity of up to 29,000 DWT running domestic routes along with many other inland waterway vehicles.
The fact that shipbuilding enterprises have added modern technology to production, gradually regained their position, and maritime transport enterprises have promoted the development of maritime transport fleets with reasonable structures, applied modern technology, and improved service quality, increasingly meeting the needs of the domestic transport market, deeply participating in transport supply chains, gradually increasing and capturing international market share. The improvements in maritime transport activities are also a new driving force for the province's maritime economy in the following stages.
