Research proposes synchronous solutions to ensure food safety in schools.
The Government Office has just issued Document No. 9425/VPCP-KGVX dated October 2, 2025 conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long on handling information reflecting on synchronous solutions to ensure food safety in schools.
Previously, the Government Electronic Information Portal reported on information, press and public opinion related to the direction and management work, including content on synchronous solutions to ensure food safety in schools.
According to feedback, entering the 2025-2026 school year, school food safety continues to be a concern when the risk of unsafety comes not only from school meals but also from food sold around the school gate. Although there are models such as self-cooking, ready-made meals or on-site processing, traceability is still mainly based on paperwork, not thoroughly controlled. Food safety supervision is still loose due to lack of coordination between schools, parents and suppliers. In addition, food from street vendors of unknown origin and unhygienic processing also poses a high risk of poisoning for students. Faced with this situation, experts propose a synchronous and sustainable solution, not only tightening from the supply to processing in schools but also strengthening control of surrounding areas. The three core factors emphasized are: mechanism - technology - community. Specifically, it is necessary to strictly enforce the Food Safety Law, strengthen inspection and handle violations; Applying technology to trace origin via QR code; at the same time promoting the role of social supervision and raising awareness of parents and students.
Regarding the above issue, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long assigned the Ministry of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant agencies to study and propose synchronous solutions to ensure food safety in schools, proactively implement them according to their authority or propose and recommend appropriate solutions to competent authorities to continue perfecting mechanisms and solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management and ensure food safety at educational and training establishments.
