According to Tien Phong reporter's report on January 28 (29th of Lunar New Year), the amount of garbage at the end of the year continuously increases rapidly, causing garbage points to pile up.

The image was recorded at Minh Khai street (Hai Ba Trung district). Every ten minutes, people bring trash to the alley entrance to dump, forcing environmental workers to push carts to collect it continuously but still can't keep up.

In Hoan Kiem district, the amount of garbage increased by about 300 tons compared to normal days.

In areas such as Hai Ba Trung and Dong Da, the amount of garbage during Tet holidays is expected to increase by about double compared to normal days. Statistics from the Hanoi Urban Environment Company (Urenco) show that the amount of garbage during Tet holidays in 5 inner-city districts and 2 districts of Thanh Oai and My Duc increased by more than 500 tons compared to the volume according to the contract (2,000 tons).

According to information from the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment, at the end of the year, the amount of waste generated in the whole city is from 9,000 to 10,000 tons/day, an increase of 150% compared to normal days.

By January 24, all 30 districts, towns and environmental sanitation companies had implemented a general environmental sanitation plan before, during and after Tet At Ty. Environmental sanitation companies mobilized 100% of their human resources and vehicles to work until New Year's Eve to collect and transport all waste generated, ensuring a clean environment on the first day of Tet for people to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet.
