Users can browse the web with the help of AI

(Dan Tri) - Microsoft launched Copilot Mode on Edge browser, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the web browsing experience.

This feature is currently in beta, enabled by default, and free for Mac or PC users who already have access to Copilot.

When Copilot Mode is enabled, Edge users will be taken to a new tab page where they can search, chat, and browse the web together with Copilot.

In particular, when visiting a specific website, users can ask Copilot to assist with additional tasks such as summarizing the content, converting recipes to vegetarian versions, or creating shopping lists.

This feature eliminates the need to copy and paste content into separate AI chatbots, simplifying everyday tasks like booking appointments, booking hotels, or finding flight tickets.

While the speed of interacting with AI may not always be faster than doing it yourself, Copilot offers significant benefits, especially for those who are not tech-savvy or have limited mobility, thanks to its voice input capabilities.

Microsoft says that in the future, Copilot will be able to take in additional information like login information or history to manage more advanced operations.

One of Copilot's most compelling capabilities is its ability to act as a research assistant, looking at all of your open tabs to get a sense of what you're browsing. This is especially useful when comparing products or doing online research, like comparing airfare or hotel prices across multiple sites.

Microsoft also revealed that Copilot will proactively remind and suggest next steps to help users continue unfinished projects or tasks.

However, Microsoft also notes that Copilot can only access a user's browsing content with explicit consent, which is displayed through visual cues.

Users can enable or disable the feature that allows Copilot to access their microphone or see their search content, a point that may make some users feel a bit uneasy about privacy.

With Copilot Mode, Microsoft Edge is reshaping the browsing experience, making it a more intelligent and personalized space, meeting the growing demand for AI-powered browsers.
