The person who left a special mark in the sacred land of Dong Loc

Mr. Dao Anh Tuan (born in 1974, from Can Loc, Ha Tinh) used to be the Deputy of the Management Board of the Dong Loc T-junction Historical Relic Site. Since the beginning of 2025, he has been the Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Dong Loc T-junction Historical Relic Site and the Ly Tu Trong Memorial Site in Ha Tinh province, in charge of propaganda and explanation. In addition to management and professional work at the agency, he is also the Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh Provincial Tourism Association, regularly participating in promotional activities for the Relic Site in particular and Ha Tinh tourism in general.

Initiative on “smart destination”

Mr. Tuan shared that if Dong Loc T-junction had an important position during the war, it was the throat on the only bloodline supplying the South, then in peacetime, this place has become a "sacred land" on the North-South journey to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs. Every year, the relic site welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors, an average increase of 15-20% each year. At its peak, there are days when this place welcomes nearly 6,000 visitors with hundreds of groups, one tour guide has to welcome 7-8 groups.

The number of tourists is increasing while the "human resources" of the relic site are limited. All officers and employees of the relic site are working at the highest capacity. Mr. Tuan himself is both in charge of management and directly explains and welcomes groups. He clearly understands that for many years, accessing information here has not been convenient, the interaction between tourists and historical information is limited. Especially for foreign tourists, to learn and look up information, they mainly depend on signs, annotations or tour guides.

From more than 20 years of experience as a tour guide for millions of tourists, Mr. Tuan has come up with the initiative "Improving the efficiency of learning about Dong Loc T-junction through QR codes" to optimize the tourist experience, helping to access information here faster, more accurately and more vividly.

Accordingly, at the QR code point in the Relic Site, there are 02 bilingual infographics in Vietnamese - English and 01 video clip introducing an overview of the Relic Site, providing information about items, works, introducing the history and story of this heroic land... The QR codes enhance the visiting experience, not only providing text information but also being able to link to videos, images, VR360 virtual reality technology to help visitors have a more vivid and interesting experience.

Standing on Dong Loc land, visitors can review documentary films about the land that was once a "fire pan, bomb bag" during the resistance war, directly feeling the vivid images from the past. Visitors can be more proactive in choosing information of interest, self -discovery and do not need to wait for group tours or tour guide services.

Dong Loc T-junction has become a "smart" destination, not only providing information to tourists more easily and vividly, but also helping to promote the cultural and historical values of the relic to a large number of users through online platforms.

Journey to promote relics

The application of digital technology in the management, preservation and promotion of relics has had positive results, reducing the need for too many physical signs, thereby limiting the impact on the environment and relics.

In 2023, the Dong Loc T-junction Relic Site welcomed more than 300,000 visitors. In 2024, this number reached nearly 500,000. In the first 3 months of 2025 alone, it reached nearly 200,000. The number of visitors to the Relic Site is constantly increasing, notably many young people and international visitors know about it through promotional information on digital platforms.

That, on the one hand, further affirms the significance and stature of the Relic Site, and at the same time, poses a higher problem for cadres and employees in preserving and promoting historical and cultural values and building and developing the Dong Loc T-junction Relic Site and Ly Tu Trong Memorial Site.

In the flow of the digital age, Mr. Tuan realized that the promotion, advertising and introduction work here has not been much innovative and lacks diversity. Together with the officers and employees of the Relic Site, he always wondered how to spread more and better convey the values of this place, so that more tourists would know and come to the Relic Site. His initiative "Strengthening the promotion, advertising and introduction of the Relic Site" was born.

In addition to the programs held annually here, Mr. Tuan and the Ha Tinh Tourism Association develop plans and contents, participate in tourism fairs, introduce and promote Ha Tinh and Dong Loc T-junction; welcome Famtrip delegations, travel agencies to survey tourism in Ha Tinh province... and many other activities to contribute to promoting the image of Dong Loc T-junction to people across the country and international friends.

He himself regularly promotes and introduces the Relic Site through articles published in newspapers and magazines; directly writes and posts activities and images on the website, Facebook, Fanpage; talks directly with audiences nationwide about Dong Loc T-junction on JOYFM channel; works with television stations, films introductions, interviews, and promotions for tourists from all over the world; coordinates with many units to carry out programs related to Dong Loc T-junction such as the experience program "Legend of Youth" at the Vietnam Women's Museum...

According to Mr. Tuan, in the near future, the relic site will have many more attractive activities to help enhance the experience of visitors, thereby improving the effectiveness of propaganda and education about traditional values to the younger generation and helping them understand more deeply the value of independence and the sacrifice of previous generations.

A part of the meaning of life at Dong Loc T-junction

Looking back on more than 20 years of working at the Dong Loc T-junction Relic Site, now the Dong Loc T-junction Relic Site and Ly Thuong Kiet Memorial Site, Mr. Tuan shared: “For me personally and all the staff and employees of the Relic Site, this place is more than a second home. Many days we left home when the street lights were still on and returned when the street lights were on. Although the conditions were still difficult and the weather was harsh, we always considered working here an honor and pride. Regardless of the sun or rain, holidays or Tet, everyone was always ready to serve the people with a spirit of volunteering of the youth, promoting all creative labor capabilities, being proactive in all work to enhance the position of Dong Loc T-junction and Ly Tu Trong Memorial Site”.

For Mr. Tuan, the four words

For Mr. Tuan, the four words "Dong Loc T-junction" are deeply engraved in his heart.

The officials of the relic site said that in addition to being passionate about his professional work, Mr. Tuan is also an exemplary Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, a typical example in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. He is an example of tireless work with more than 20 years of work without a single day off. Until the holiday of September 2, 2024, it was the first time he took 2 days off to take his family on a trip. And to make him feel secure to have these 2 rare days off, it was also thanks to the collective encouragement "you just go, we will try our best".

Mr. Tuan smiled: “There is something inexplicable, but it seems that the four words “Dong Loc T-junction” are engraved in my heart and mind. Whether I go on business trips or anywhere far away, I always want to return to this place. This is an extremely meaningful part of my life. Every day I get to contribute, take care of the souls of heroes and martyrs, serve the people who come to visit and convey the historical, cultural and patriotic values of the nation – for me, that is an honor and happiness.”

Mr. Dao Anh Tuan has achieved many achievements during his work: Typical in Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in 2018; Typical advanced in the patriotic emulation movement in the period 2015 - 2020; Commemorative medal for "Young Generation" of the Central Youth Union in 2022 for achievements in contributing to the cause of educating the young generation and building the Youth Union organization; Commemorative medal of the 210th Air Defense Regiment - Thai Nguyen (the unit that lived and fought at Dong Loc T-junction) in 2023 for many achievements in activities and movements to educate traditions for compatriots and the young generation; Certificate of merit of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province for achievements in performing work tasks in 2024.
