In 1986, Mr. Nhan performed his international duty in Cambodia. During the years in the deep jungle and poisonous water, facing bombs and diseases, he still steadfastly stayed and completed his duty. In 1989, returning to his homeland, Mr. Nhan got married. Life was difficult, with no land to produce, he "left his homeland" to work as a construction worker and worker everywhere to take care of his wife and 3 children.

Mr. Nhan said: “After 9 years of making a living in a foreign land, I am still poor. I discussed with my wife about returning to our hometown to rebuild our lives with a little land our parents gave us, maybe it will be less difficult. Because I believe that on the land where we were born and raised, if the husband and wife are diligent, the land will love the hardworking person…”.

In 2019, Mr. Nhan returned to his hometown, and shortly after, he started a business with a livestock model. Initially, he raised pigs but it was not successful; in 2020, thanks to participating in eel farming training organized by the Commune Veterans Association, he found a suitable direction: raising mud-free eels. With the Commune Veterans Association's support of a 100 million VND unsecured loan from the Social Policy Bank, he invested in 19 eel farming tanks, each 7-8m wide, raising more than 10,000 eel fry. He stayed by the tanks day and night, learning more care techniques...

As a result, in the first year with 3 eel crops, he earned hundreds of millions of dong. Overwhelmed with joy, he continued to learn and share his experience with many members of the Veterans Association in the hamlet. The following year, he had a circular farming method: using eel waste as feed for ducks, combining with growing vegetables at home to improve income and meals... After many years of saving, his family was able to buy 10 hectares of rice fields, with an average income of nearly 200 million dong/year.

In early 2025, the Commune Veterans Association established an eel farming cooperative consisting of 14 members who are members of the Commune Veterans Association; Mr. Nhan was entrusted with the task of Head of the Cooperative. Mr. Dang Quoc Thoi, a veteran from Hamlet 2, shared: "My family's life is now stable thanks to my comrade Huynh Van Nhan who always shares experiences, supports breeds, and guides eel farming techniques in tanks." Up to now, the Commune Veterans Association no longer has poor members, many members have stable lives. That result is due to the joint efforts of Mr. Nhan.

In addition to being good at business , Mr. Nhan is also a pioneer in the activities of the hamlet and the Association. In 2023, he and the members of the Veterans Association of Hamlet 2 established the model "Association of Veterans Volunteers for Road Patching". The model operates in such a way that whenever he receives information about a road in the hamlet that is degraded, he and his teammates will directly go to see it and mobilize funds to buy materials to patch it. From 2024 to now, the model has repaired 12 bridge foundations, patched and upgraded more than 8km of concrete roads, with a total cost of more than 50 million VND.

Mr. Pham Van Toan, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Xa Phien Commune, said: “Mr. Huynh Van Nhan is not only a shining example in family economics but also devoted to his comrades and the development of his homeland. He has contributed to beautifying the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers: simple, loyal and constantly devoted…”.
