On the Israel-Hamas conflict, 54% approved of Mr. Trump's handling of the situation, but only 13% said the proposal for the US to take over Gaza after the conflict was a "good idea."
The poll also looked at people's reactions to the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Fifty-one percent of Americans believe the agency should have some influence on government spending, while 49% believe its influence should be limited.
However, Mr. Trump received lower marks on economic policies, especially inflation. 66% of respondents said he did not focus enough on reducing prices, while only 31% rated him as having the right priorities.
Americans are also divided on tariffs. Fifty-six percent support tariffs on China, but that number drops to 44 percent for Mexico, 40 percent for Europe and 38 percent for Canada.
The poll was conducted from February 5 to 7 with 2,175 American participants, with a margin of error of ±2.5%.
