According to records, in squares and parks in Da Nang City, every day there are hundreds of mini electric cars displayed for rent at a price of 2,000 VND/minute.

This is a form of entertainment that many children and even adults love and participate in driving. However, the rental and uncontrolled use of mini electric cars is posing many potential risks of accidents, not only for children but also for pedestrians and traffic participants.

At Nhu Nguyet Park (Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City), every night, children freely drive mini electric cars to chase each other at high speed.

Notably, the area where electric vehicles run is open space, without separate lanes, no barriers and no one to manage or control these activities. Many children participating in driving mini electric vehicles do not wear helmets or are not equipped with protective equipment.

It seems like a child's play, but few people know that these mini vehicles can reach speeds of 10-20km/h. Not only are they dangerous chases, mini electric car drivers can also crash into pedestrians and other road users.

Mr. Hoang Van Tu (resident of Hai Chau ward) said that the widespread rental of electric vehicles in parks like today is very dangerous because parks are places for children to play, but also places for many people to walk and exercise.

“These electric cars often run very fast, but the control area is small and unfenced, making pedestrians feel uncomfortable having to constantly avoid them. Many parents carelessly let their children drive the cars without monitoring them, endangering the children and others,” said Mr. Tu.

Similarly, at Lien Chieu Park (Hoa Khanh Ward, Da Nang City), reporters also recorded the situation of many children not wearing helmets, driving mini electric vehicles swerving and weaving at high speed.

Despite the pedestrian zone, these vehicles still speed by, making many people's hearts stop. There have even been collisions, many children fell down but still got up to continue driving.

“If an electric car keeps speeding in a public place and hits someone, who will be responsible? Not to mention, children do not have experience in handling situations, so if they encounter obstacles or collide with each other, it will be very dangerous,” said Ms. Nguyen Minh Trang (residing in Hoa Khanh ward).

Mr. Nguyen Van Duy, Chairman of Hai Chau Ward People's Committee, said that the ward has received feedback and will tighten the management of electric vehicle operations at Nhu Nguyet Park to ensure safety for residents and tourists.

“Most of the business activities at Nhu Nguyet Park are currently spontaneous. Recently, the urban regulations force has coordinated with the ward police to regularly patrol and handle the situation of encroachment on sidewalks, illegal trading, and causing disorder in the area. In the coming time, the ward will continue to strengthen inspection and rectify violations in this area,” informed the Chairman of Hai Chau Ward People's Committee.
