Ho Chi Minh City Binh Tan District forced four officials to quit, warned, and reprimanded them for allowing people to illegally build nearly 130 houses on agricultural land in Tan Tao ward.
On the afternoon of March 1, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee, said that the disciplinary action against the relevant officials would be carried out before Tet.
Specifically, a land officer in charge of the area was forced to resign. The former vice chairman and vice chairman of the ward were warned; the former chairman of the ward from 2016 to 2020 was reprimanded. In addition to reviewing responsibilities, the district police are investigating and will take action if there are any criminal elements.

These houses were built on agricultural land planned for education , parks, trees, traffic, highway protection corridors...
Mr. Vu Chi Kien, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, said that regarding the illegal constructions, some areas have been forcibly handled, while others were demolished by the people themselves but not completely. Later, the district discovered other illegal constructions in some neighboring areas.
This March, the locality will completely handle the re-violating construction, and at the same time consider supporting accommodation for poor and crowded households if requested.
